Appeal over racially aggravated assault

Updated on 21st August 2012

Police are appealing for information about a racially aggravated assault.

It happened around 5pm on Monday 30 July, as the victim walked along Watnall Road, Hucknall, near to the junction with Shortwood Avenue.

The man was with two friends, when he was approached by a boy on a pushbike, who stopped and then spat in his face, in an unprovoked attack.

The suspect then cycled off towards High Leys Drive. He is described as white, aged 15 to 16, of slim build with short, light-coloured hair. He was wearing a pink t-shirt.

The offender was with another boy, of a similar age, who was also on a pedal cycle.

A police spokesperson said: “The victim of this attack was both shocked and horrified that this could happen. We are appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened, or who may know who did this.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 0800 555 111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
