Police are appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery at a post office in Bestwood Park.
It happened at Elmbridge Post Office, in Beckhampton Road, at about 9.45am yesterday (Wednesday 22 August).
A man entered the premises, demanded cash, and threatened an employee with what is believed to be a firearm.
The shop assistant raised the alarm and the suspect ran off empty handed. No one was injured in the incident.
The offender was white, of heavy build, and had his face covered. He was wearing a grey tracksuit top and ran off in the direction of Pedmore Valley.
Detectives want to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw the suspect fleeing the scene.
Officers are particularly keen to trace a woman who was walking a springer spaniel in Pedmore Valley at the time. The offender bumped into the woman as he made his escape.
Anyone with information is asked to call DS Rob Wells on 101, extension 802 4686, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
