Lessons at a Bestwood Park school have been disrupted after a burglar stole a number of laptops.

An intruder is believed to have entered Big Wood School in Bewcastle Road at about 5pm on Tuesday 10 January 2012.

As the building was undergoing its daily clean the offender dragged a safe containing 15 laptops into the rear garden and waited for the cleaners to leave.

Half-an-hour later, the same suspect is believed to have returned to the vacated school, emptied the safe and made off with the laptops.

Investigating officer PC Mark Szeremeta said: “All the stolen computers are Dell laptops and are identifiable by the owner’s details, which have been painted on and which will leave distinctive scratch marks if any attempt is made to remove them.

“Anyone in the market for a laptop, who thinks they have been approached to buy one of these stolen machines, is asked to get in touch with police immediately."

Witnesses or anyone with any information are asked to contact PC Szeremeta on 101, extension 853 4162, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
