Road condition witnesses sought by crash team

Updated on 24th January 2012

Police are hoping to trace two people who may be able to provide vital information about road conditions in the moments before a fatal crash in a North Nottinghamshire village.

The appeal comes from Nottinghamshire Police’s Crash Investigation Unit, which is trying to establish what caused a Vauxhall Astra to leave Weston Road, in Egmanton, on the morning of Friday 9 December, resulting in the death of the female driver.

It is believed that a man and woman who were in a parked green 4x4 vehicle close to Weston Road’s junction with Hagg Lane at around 9am may have seen a small silver Rover car skid in the icy conditions before the driver regained control and continued on their journey.

Minutes later, the emergency services were contacted and informed that the Vauxhall had crashed.

If anyone knows who the occupants of the 4x4 may be they are asked to contact DC 1520 Katie Stokes by telephoning 101 ext 800 2225.
