Police name victims of Wellow crash

Police have named two men who died in a collision involving two cars and a motorcycle.

The incident happened in Rufford Lane, Wellow, at about 5.45pm on Tuesday 24 July 2012.

Damien Gilliatt, 32, of Warsop, and Ryan Pickard, 20, of Ollerton, were both travelling in a Ford Escort when it was in collision with a motorbike and a Honda Civic.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist and his pillion passenger, both aged 19 and male, were taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre. They have since been discharged.

The 39-year-old male driver of the Honda Civic was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

No one else was injured.

Police are seeking witnesses to a road collision in Wellow in which two men died.

The incident happened at around 5.45pm yesterday (Tuesday 24 July 2012) in Rufford Lane, and involved two cars and a motorcycle.

Following the crash one of the cars caught fire. Emergency Services attended the scene but, despite concerted efforts at rescue, the two men were pronounced dead at the scene.

The motorcyclist and his pillion passenger, both aged 19 and male, were taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre with serious injuries.

The 39-year-old male driver of the other car was treated at the scene for minor injuries.

No one else was injured.

Rufford Lane, from the scene of the crash to the junction with the A616 at Wellow Village, was closed while the scene was cleared and officers carried out their investigation. It was re-opened just after 3am.
