Police seek vital witness in assault case

Updated on 30th July 2012

A woman who may have witnessed an assault on a dog walker is being urged contact police.

The incident happened at about 9.45pm on Tuesday 3 July 2012, when the 50-year-old man and his dog were walking along Beckhampton Road, in Bestwood.

He was surrounded by a group of men before one of them is believed to have hit him over the head with an unknown weapon.

The man was rendered unconscious and when he awoke he was approached by a white woman who stopped in a small car to ask if he was okay.

She then drove away.

Were you this woman concerned for the man’s welfare? If so, police think you may have vital information about the offenders.

The man suffered a fractured skull as a result of the attack. He was taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre and was released last week.

Police conducted enquiries in the local area and checked CCTV footage but the suspects have yet to be traced.

The woman or anyone with any information is asked to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
