Child injured in Calverton collision

An 18-month-old boy was injured during a collision in Calverton today (Monday 28 May 2012).

Police were called just before 8.30am to the crash, between a Mitsubishi Colt car and a Ford Transit van, in Longdale Lane, near to its junction with Rigg Lane.

The child, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre with suspected serious injuries and is currently in a stable condition. The woman driver sustained minor injuries.

The man van driver was taken to King's Mill Hospital with minor injuries.

The road is currently closed in both directions between the scene of the crash and the A614 roundabout with Longdale Lane.
