Attempted bag theft in supermarket car park

Police are hunting a man who attempted to steal a woman’s handbag as she loaded shopping into her car.

It happened around 7.15pm on Tuesday 20 November 2012, in the car park of Morrison’s, in the Springfield Retail Park at Bulwell.

The 65-year-old victim’s car was parked opposite the clock tower entrance near the petrol station.

As she loaded her shopping into the boot of her car, a man approached her from behind and attempted to steal her bag.

She struggled to hold on to it, and was pulled to the ground causing her to bang her head. She required hospital treatment for cuts and bruises to her head.

The offender ran off across a footbridge, on to Hucknall Lane and was last seen heading towards Bulwell town centre.

He is described as Asian or mixed race, between 5ft 5” and 5ft 8” tall, and of slim build. He was wearing a grey hooded top and dark bottoms.
