Did you see man go into water?

Updated on 3rd September 2012

Police are appealing to the public for information following a report that a man entered the Nottingham Canal last night (Friday 31 August 2012) and did not resurface.

Three Eastern European men are alleged to have been walking along the footpath when one of them is thought to have gone into the water. It is unclear if he emerged safe and well.

A section of the canal behind Nottingham Crown and County Court was closed today (Saturday 1 September 2012) while the Force’s underwater dive team conducted a search.

Officers on foot also made enquiries in the area.

At this stage no one has been recovered from the water.

Witnesses, the three Eastern European men in question, or anyone with any information should contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
