Did you witness Meadows assault?

Officers are trying to trace a taxi driver who may have witnessed an assault in the early hours of Sunday 27 January.

The driver is believed to have picked up a man and woman, who may have been arguing, from St James’ Street at around 4am and taken them to Lammas Gardens, in the Meadows.

DC Rachel Woodford, from Oxclose Police Station, said: “The driver, who was an Asian man in his mid-40s, left before officers were able to get his details so we would urge him to contact us.”

The taxi was a white Skoda Octavia.

Lee Cooper, 29, of Lammas Gardens, has been charged in connection with the assault.
