Intruder snatches chain from pensioner's neck

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man raided a pensioner’s home and snatched a chain from around her neck.
Clifton residents who may have seen a hooded figure leaving the house, in Kilsby Road, at about 5pm on Monday 7 January are being urged to call officers.
The lady, who is in her 80s, was sat watching television when she heard noises coming from upstairs.
When she went to investigate she was confronted by a hooded figure at the top of the stairs.
The man walked down the stairs and snatched a gold chain from the victim’s neck, before dropping it off and running off.
The pensioner was not injured.
DC Jed Beard said: “This was a shocking invasion of an elderly person’s home.
“The cowardly thief is lucky that his victim did not sustain any injuries and we are urging anyone who may have seen anything to get in touch.”
The offender is described as black, in his late teens and about 5ft 10ins tall.
He is of a skinny build and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing black clothes with his hood up and a scarf covering the lower half of his face.
