Nottinghamshire Safer Business Initiative
Did you know that at least one in every four reported crimes in Nottinghamshire is committed against a business? Many of these offences are preventable if simple security measures are in place.
To help tackle business crime Nottinghamshire Police, working in partnership with other agencies, has launched an initiative aimed at reducing business crime and the fear of crime.
Our aim is to make the Nottinghamshire one of the most prosperous, crime-free counties in the country by:
· working with business to help reduce crime and the fear of crime;
· involving businesses in creating safer communities, both individually and working with estates to form partnerships;
· improving the police response to business crime;
· exchanging advice and best practice in order to reduce the opportunity for crime.
Reducing the risk of crime being committed against your business will help to support its long-term success. Security and crime prevention should be integral to any business plan, not just a reaction after the event. We aim to help businesses prevent crime before it happens.
This website offers advice on a number of methods to reduce business crime, what to do if a crime is committed against your business, and steps you can take to make sure that your business recovers as swiftly as possible from any criminal activity.
How can we help you?
Nottinghamshire Safer Business Initiative is able to assist on a number of levels:
· Crime Prevention surveys - free of charge to help identify areas of potential weakness and recommendations for security improvements
· Supplying cost effective crime prevention interventions at 10%-40% less than the Recommended Retail Price
· Assisting in setting up Business Watches or combined security schemes on business parks
One of the main aims of the initiative is to assist in setting up effective Business Watch schemes and helping businesses to reduce their security costs by negotiating combined staffed security schemes.

Nottinghamshire Police Safer Business Team have compiled a free interactive CD specifically aimed at SMEs to increase their awareness of crime, and providing a wealth of crime prevention advice, scam warnings and general information aimed at reducing the opportunity for crime to be committed against your business.
