Advice for students arriving in Nottingham
Starting university should be an unforgettable experience and we want you to remember your time in Nottingham for all the right reasons.
This page contains useful information and advice to help you enjoy your time here as safely as possible.
We have a number of local beat teams who work closely with both Nottingham and Nottingham Trent Universities throughout the year.
During Freshers Week, you will see our teams out and about on your campus and in areas where students live, both at halls of residence and in private accommodation areas, including Lenton Abbey and University Park.
They will be on hand to welcome you to Nottingham and give sensible advice on keeping yourself and your property safe.
While crime in Nottingham is at its lowest for 30 years, we know that burglars will target student accommodation for expensive goods such as laptops, MP3 players and televisions.
Together with the universities, we have worked hard to ensure students are protected and burglary dropped by 15 per cent in the Canning neighbourhood policing area, where many students live, in the last academic year.
Use this page to find out where you can speak to our officers over the coming weeks to get more advice and take advantage of property protection measures. You will also find useful downloads which provide more information and tips.
