East Bassetlaw
The Neighbourhood Policing Area of East Bassetlaw covers a large geopgraphical area of 180 square miles. It includes the two towns of Retford and Harworth and the many villages that surround these towns. The area stretches from Tuxford in the south to West Stockwith in the top north east corner. The western boundary is marked by the A1 trunk road and eastwards the area stretches across to West Burton Power Station.
Officers in East Bassetlaw are committed to reducing crime and disorder by working with local people to improve their quality of life. Each Beat area has a dedicated Beat Manager and Community Support Officer who works with residents and partners to find long-term solutions to community issues.
Neighbourhood Priorities
Through consultation with the members of the public in this neighbourhood we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.
- Vehicle nuisance and speeding Show details
From the Priority Setting Meeting on 11th April 2012
The topic of vehicle nuisance and speeding was identified as the highest priority as a result of consultation with the public by way of survey forms. Surveys were collected by officers attending various community venues during the previous 3 months, and also whilst engaged in house-to-house enquiries on their respective beat areas. The Nottinghamshire Police Web site also has the facility for completion of the survey electronically. The forms were collected from various age groups and from a cross section of the community.
The Priority was agreed at the Priority Setting Meetings for Rural East Bassetlaw held on 11th April 2012.
The main specific locations identified are,
Mattersey village. Main Street and Retford Road.
Misterton. Haxey Road and Gringley Road.
Everton village along the A631 Gainsborough Road.
All officers on the Neighbourhood Policing Team for Rural East Bassetlaw will play a part in delivering against this priority, those responses often "tailored" to fit their own beat area.
The next review of this priority will take place at the beginning of July2012, when Community Surveys will be taken into account and presented at the next Priority Setting Group Meeting at Retford Town Hall at 6.30pm. 11/7/12 forRural East Bassetlaw

Our Response
May Update.
Officers from Nottinghamshire Police together with volunteers will assist the very active Community Speedwatch groups which operate very effectively in the area of Rural East Bassetlaw. Speed enforcement will take place by those officers and volunteers will engage in the writing of warning letters to be sent to owners of speeding vehicles identified by CSW teams.
The County North Off Road Team will also engage in delivery at locations identified as being used by illegal off road motorcycle use. That team will work towards both seizures of machines and also prosecutions where appropriate, for document offences by those users. The three main priority areas are-
1. Ordsall and the area generally close to the shops on Ollerton Road.
2. Retford town centre around Kings Park and Asda.
3. Tuxford and the area surrounding the Town Centre.
The next review of this priority will take place at the beginning of July 2012, when Community Surveys will be taken into account and presented at the next Priority Setting Group Meeting at Retford Town Hall at 6.30pm.

May Update
Bassetlaw District Council ASB team continue to work closely with East Bassetlaw Officers to reduce anti social behaviour issues over the whole of the East Bassetlaw area.
Property landlords will also be utilised and challenged where appropriate to take positive action against tennants who both cause ASB, or whos visitors cause ASB.
Operation ANIMISM is a Divisional Operation which focusses Neighbourhood Policing Team staff on the areas causing most concern. This will continue. - Enviro Crime (Fly Tipping/Dog Fouling and Graffitti) Show details

The locations affected are often in the Rural Communities with priority locations being identified as:-
1. Litter from Mc Donald’s at Markham Moor which seems to be prevalent in all directions but not always close to the food outlet.
2. Elkesley and the rural lanes close to the village. (Sandy Lane, Coal Pit Lane, Brough Lane.)
3. The area around Wheatley and Clayworth.

Our Response
May Update
The Neighbourhood Policing Team for all the Rural areas will attempt to monitor this issue and where offenders are witnessed, their details will be passed to the Environment Team at Bassetlaw District Council with a view to prosecution. This applies to the topic of Fly Tipping and Dog Fouling. Issues of Graffiti where witnessed will be evidenced to the local Police Officers and prosecutions reviewed.
The NPT will also contact BDC where rubbish and Graffiti is located in an effort to ensure the items are cleared up. BDC have a good record in relation to this as do A1 Housing who will try to attend within 24hrs.
