Completed Neighbourhood Priorities

• Off road motor bikes   Show details
  At the local action group meeting held on the 26th November 2009. Off road motorcycle nuisance was identified as the 1st priority for the Newark North Neighbourhood.
  
  A survey was taken using the number of Incidents created by calls from the community within the beat area. At the Safer neighbourhood group meeting on the 6th August 2008 the results of this survey were discussed and the issue was adopted as a beat priority. The survey results highlighted that at various times in the day Off Road Motor Bikes and Mini Motor Bikes are being ridden in and around the Clay Lane area.
  
  
  
  
  Our Response
  Patrols by the Safer Neighbourhood Team and the Off Road Team in and around the location, the use of media and leaflet drops to highlight the legality of these vehicles and the land with which they are being ridden on.
  
  Issuing of tickets and vehicle seizure where appropriate.
  
  We are also incorporating a multi-agency approach with help from the local Authorities and the owners of the land itself.

  The local beat team and off road officers are continuously patrolling the areas and when possible taking positive action with these bikes, issuing of tickets and vehicle seizure where appropriate.
  Working with the local authorities and the owners we have managed to secure the land in Collingham and prevent any further off road nuisance.
  On several occasions verbal advice has been given to people in Girton and Collingham reference riding off road bikes with out consent from the landowners.

• Anti Social behaviour   Show details
  At the local action group meeting held on the 26th November 2009. Anti social behaviour was identified as the 2nd priority for the Newark North Neighbourhood.
  
  During the evenings particularly at weekends youths are congregating and are engaging in antsocial behaviour, street drinking, rowdy behaviour.
  
  Howes Court has been identified from our logging of incidents reported to the Police as the top street on this neighbourhood for Anti social behaviour.
  
  Our Response
  The youth club bus has been out within the local areas and this is proving to be very successful with all involved.
  
  We are still however having small pockets of individuals wanting to congregate and indulge in drunken antisocial behaviour.
  
  In these cases we are working together with our local authorities antisocial behaviour team and the Alcohol Licensing Officer.
  
  Further High visibility patrols will continue to take place with any antisocial behaviour being identified and dealt with in the appropriate manner.

  As the safer neighbourhood team have conducted a number of high visibility patrols. Individuals have been stopped and spoken to with regards to their behaviour and the appropriate action has been taken. From this we have carried out a number of stop search forms and further alcohol/tobacco has been confiscated. The Safer Neighbourhood Team is still positively policing this priority.
  We have also been in contact with the Anti Social Behaviour Officer from Kelham Hall reference ASB on our beat. Multi agency meetings have taken place to see how we can prevent further ASB occurring.
  The School liaison officer has also been involved regarding ASB as it has had an effect on the students’ attendance and behaviour within school.

  With regards to the antisocial behaviour we the safer neighbourhood team have conducted a number of high visibility patrols. A number of individuals have been stopped and spoken to with regards to their behaviour and the appropriate action has been taken. This has resulted in a number of stop search forms been issued and alcohol confiscated.
  Also a number of off road bike users have been identified using local scrubland these individuals have again been stopped and spoken to with regards to their behaviour. We are also currently in talks with the local authority to decide who legally owns the land that these vehicles have been stopped on.
  I have also made the B Diversion Off Road Police Team aware who will now be paying attention to the area.
  
  The Youth Club Bus has been out within the local areas and this is proving to be very successful with all involved.

• Vehicle speeding related nuisance   Show details
  At the local action group meeting held on the 26th November 2009. Vehicle speeding was identified as the 3rd priority for the Newark North Neighbourhood.
  
  Vehicles speeding has been identified as a priority in Beacon Area (Coddington and Barnby in the Willows) from the Safer neighbourhood group meetings and surveys of residents at our street surgeries.
  
  Our Response
  Community Speed Watch has been set up with the help of the local community volunteers and is now place throughotu the neighbourhood.
  
  It has already proved very successful with numerous cars being identified travelling over the legal limits. The owners/drivers of these vehicles are having their registrations noted and safety warning letters are being sent out.
  
  The Safer Neighbourhood Team also engage in a proactive way along side the Community Speed Watch volunteers; we in turn have use of a police enforceable mobile speed gun.
  
  To date numerous drivers have been stopped at several locations and dealt with by way of a verbal warning or by means of a fixed penalty notice.
  
  We have also reported this location to the County council highways department who will site temporary or permanent interactive speed signs.

  Police and Community Volunteers continue to carry out speed check within the Collingham Beat area.
  A speed enforcement operation was carried out on 27/03/2010 Collingham Beat area where speed has been identified as a Policing Priority.
  
  Checks carried out at the following locations:
  
  A1133 (SSUP Route), Langford- One EFPN issued for speed (55 in a 40 mph limit), 4 cautions for speed but below the prosecution threshold.
  
  A1133 (SSUP Route), High Street, Collingham - Two EFPN’s issued for speed (38 & 44 in a 30 mph limit). Two VDRS offences disclosed (both of which were tyres). 6 cautions for speed but below the prosecution threshold
  
  A1133 (SSUP Route), Besthorpe - Three EFPN’s issued for speed (52, 55 and 53 in a 40 mph limit). 1 caution for speed but below the prosecution threshold
  
  Balderton Lane, Coddington- One EFPN issued for speed (37 in a 30 limit), VDRS’s issued for lighting, tyre and windscreen offences.
  
  Again masses of popular support received from residents at all check locations, many of whom voiced their support of the Police Operation.
