Neighbourhood Priorities

Through consultation with the members of the public in this neighbourhood we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.

  • Anti social behaviour Show details
At the local action group meeting held on the 26th November 2009. Anti social behaviour was identified as the 1st priority for the Newark South Neighbourhood.

The results of surveys and discussions at the safer neighbourhood group meeting identified Anti social Behaviour being caused by persons riding mini motos, motorbikes and mopeds inappropriately on Sustrans Cycle Track and The Spinney in Balderton.
Moulton Crescent was also indentified through call data as being an area experiencing high levels of anti social behaviour.

    Our Response
All incidents relating to motorbikes in the area are emailed directly to the off-road team so that they are aware of all problems as they occur.

Further posters have been distributed around the area regarding the use of motorbikes and also warning posters have been put up to say that the off-road team are operating in this area.

Further visits to this area by the off-road team are ongoing.

Locations are to be decided in relation to the location of permanent CCTV cameras and then costs to be calculated by Newark and Sherwood District Council.

A meeting has been arranged at Kelham Hall, for the Chair of the Balderton Safer Neighbourhood Group to attend and discuss the possibilities of Balderton having more CCTV.

A request has also been made for temporary cameras to be put up in antisocial behaviour hot spots.

We have visited every house on Moulton Crescent and completed neighbourhood surveys. We have started to work with a number of families on this street with our partner agencies to reduce the incidents of anti social behaviour.

    18th May 2010-
The off road team have responded to requests for further patrols. Most recently they completed an operation on Saturday 8th May 2010 noting no activity in and around the Balderton community.

    21st April 2010 -
The Off-Road team have patrolled the Bowbridge Lane/ Hawton Lane and Sustrans Cycle Track areas of Balderton after requests were made to pay attention to these locations. The Off-Road officers will be requested to continue to operate in the Balderton area following any incidents reported of motorbike nuisance

The Safer Neighbourhood Team have conducted a number of High Visibility Patrols in and around the Farndon. This has resulted in positive feedback from within the community.
We have also distributed around the village onto various notice boards and into the local shops contact details for your Safer Neighbourhood Team.
As you will see the local Beat Manager PC 725 Kev Walker does not feature on the contact details, as you may not be aware after 30 plus years service he is retiring. His role as your local Beat Manager will be passed onto PC2942 Lisa Mortimore.
PC Mortimore will be taking an active role in meeting local community members and she looks forward to continuing PC Walkers role, she will be attending your local events and meetings to help continue to build on the strong community relationship that already exists and looks forward to meeting you.

Who over the weekend managed to seize an Off Road Motorbike from an individual?
A number of calls from within the Community with sightings of this Bike being ridden in an Anti Social Manner helped the Team locate the vehicle and its rider.

Although the number of Anti-Social Incidents has declined it was discussed again at the Safer Neighbourhood Group Meeting to keep this as a priority.
It has been noticed that the High Visibility Patrols conducted around the area are giving positive reassurance back to the community and these will continue.
PCSO 8128 Munro will also be opening the local Police Contact Point on a number of Friday evenings as the Office is situated near to where these Anti-Social Incidents have been taking place. This will not only allow you the community to meet your Safer Neighbourhood Team it will also be there to give further reassurance and to identify any individual or group taking part in any Anti-Social Behaviour.

Concern has been raised at the Safer Neighbourhood Group that Heavy Goods Vehicles are travelling through Alverton & Kilvington causing a danger to residents and other motorists.

This has been a long term concern to residents.

    Our Response
We will work with residents, councillors, and the Highways Authorities to identify a sustainable solution to re-route Heavy Goods Vehicles.

The Local Police Safer Neighbourhood Team will be conducting high visibility mobile patrols in and around the villages at various times to identify any of these heavy goods vehicles being driven and causing a danger to residents and other motorists.

Any vehicles found to be committing any offence while being driven through the villages will be stopped and the driver spoken to. Advice will be given to the drivers and letters will be sent out to the companies that they are driving for to highlight the issues. PC Walker we will also be issuing fixed penalty tickets where appropriate.

PCSO Munro and PC Walker will also be making use of the enforceable speed detection device that will enable them to highlight any speeding offences that take place through the 30mph speed limit set for the villages.

PC Walker and PCSO Munro have conducted static / mobile patrols within the appropriate villages at various times of the day and to date no vehicle has been seen committing any offences.
