South

The Newark South Neighbourhood incorporates the neat areas of Balderton and Fernwood and Farndon and Elston.


The Balderton and Fernwood area borders the A1 road and goes as far as the Highfields School on London Road.

The Farndon and Elston beat area cover the villages south of Newark. The following villages are included in the Farndon and elston Beat:
Alverton, Cotham. East Stoke,Elston, Farndon, Hawton, Kilvington, Staunton in the Vale, Syerston, Thorpe.

The A46 trunk road travels through the area, giving access to most of the above villages. This road is currently being up graded and will be a dual carriageway by 2012.


Neighbourhood Priorities

Through consultation with the members of the public in this neighbourhood we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.

    Priority Settings Meeting (PSM) update
    This priority has been identified after consultation with the local community through the Safer Neighbourhood groups and Neighbourhood Priority Surveys and all other engagement opportunities. This has subsequently been agreed by the Newark Priority setting Meeting on the 09/01/12 to be a priority.

    Compalints of young people hanging around particuarly on Pinfold Lane and Church Lane in the evening and at weekends being noisy and causing a general nuisance.

    Our Response
    We will increase patrols in the area
    Outreach work by the Salvation Army
    The offenders will be identified and joint visits conducted by the beat team and Newark and Sherwood District Council ASB team. Civil and criminal enforcement action will be taken where appropriate.
