Beat Update

19/10/2011
Balderton has seen an increase in Anti-Social Behaviour in the Manthorpe/Gaitskell Way area over the past few weeks. Multi-Agency meetings are being held to try and resolve the ongoing issues. Regular high visibility patrols are also being made at key times to reduce any nuisance behaviour.

Off-Road motorbikes continue to cause a problem along the Sustrans Cycle Track. The Off-Road team have been made aware of this and carry out patrols when able with recent success in seizing vehicles in the Balderton area.

The local Neighbourhood Policing Team have recently been working within the local secondary school taking part in their Anti-Bullying Scheme. This has involved helping students make the right decisions with regard to their behaviour. This has had positive results within the School.

02/11/2011
There has been an increase in criminal damage particularly to vehicles in and around the Balderton area. This is happening during the evening and into the early hours of the morning. Vehicle owners are reminded to lock vehicles away in garages if possible and secure them on private driveways if able. If anyone sees anything suspicious then please call 101.

BONFIRE NIGHT - Many people will be enjoying firework displays this weekend throughout the area. Please remember to stay safe during this time.

04/12/2011
Balderton has seen a decline in reports of Anti-Social Behaviour over recent weeks. However, members of public are still encouraged to report incidents of this nature using the 101 number.

DARKER NIGHTS - As the nights are now becoming darker much earlier, people are reminded to take extra care when out in the community and to stay safe at all times.

Residents of Balderton are to be reminded of how to deal with Doorstep Callers;

Sales people who call at your home may seem friendly and genuine. They may use high-pressure sales techniques by telling you scare-stories, or offering you a special discount or ‘free gift’…They only want one thing and that is to sell you something so they can make money.

Another type of caller you may get is the odd-jobber who is in the area. Sometimes they will tell you they have spotted a problem with your roof or chimney. Others say that they have had some paving slabs or tarmac left over from another job. All of them promise a bargain…These bargains almost always cost more than they are worth.

Trading Standards get many complaints about poor workmanship or even no work being done at all.

WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

• Use a door viewer or window to see who your caller is.
• Put your chain or bar on before you open the door.
• Check the identity of the caller.

Do not let the caller into your house until you have verified the callers ID. Do not rely on the number they give you, it may not be genuine. Do this by ringing his/her employer using the telephone number listed in the phone book.

ANY DOUBT? … KEEP THEM OUT!
