  • Anti-Social Behaviour and Off Road Vehicles within the Community   Show details
A survey was taken using the number of Incidents created by calls from the community within our beat area and a number of incidents, which have also been reported to the Safer Neighbourhood Team. It was discussed as a priority at the last Safer Neighbourhood Group meeting that during the evenings Youths are congregating and are engaging in Anti-Social Behaviour particularly on Marsh Lane in Farndon and that at various times in the day Off Road Motor Bikes and Mini Motor Bikes are also being ridden in and around the Farndon and Southern Villages Areas.

To help combat the issues raised the Safer Neighbourhood Team in conjunction with the Off Road Team the Special Constabulary and along with the local Anti-Social Team from Newark and Sherwood District Council will be providing high visibility patrols in these areas at appropriate times.

Any group or individual reported/seen and identified engaging in any anti social act will be stopped and dealt with in the appropriate manner.
This would be by the use of a verbal/written warnings; the issuing of fixed penalty tickets and even where the need arises vehicles will be seized where appropriate.
The use of Media and Leaflet drops in and around the locality as well as in the local schools will help to highlight any Anti Social Behaviour along with the legality of owning any Off Road vehicle.
We will also be incorporating a Multi Agency approach with any individual or group should the need arise.

Use will also be made of stop search powers.

    Our Solution
    Tansferred to cluster priorities
  • HGV problems at Alverton & Kilvington   Show details
Concern has been raised at the Safer Neighbourhood Group meeting on the 6th January 2010 that Heavy goods vehicles are travelling through Alverton & Kilvington causing a danger to residents and other motorists.

This priority will be reviewed at the next Safer Neighbourhood Group Meeting to be held At the Village Hall, Hawksworth Road, Syerston, Newark. on 07/04/2010

    Our Response
The Local Police Safer Neighbourhood Team will be conducting high visibility mobile patrols in and around the villages at various times to identify any of these heavy goods vehicles being driven and causing a danger to residents and other motorists.

PC Walker we will also be issuing fixed penalty tickets where appropriate.

PCSO Munro and PC Walker will also be making use of the enforceable speed detection device that will enable them to highlight any speeding offences that take place through the 30mph speed limit set for the villages.

    01/04/2010
The Safer Neighbourhood Team have been conducting further Speed Detection Operations at various locations and to date no further vehicles have been detected as driving over the stated speed limits.
However a number of other offences have come to light and these have been dealt with by means of a Caution or Fixed Penalty.
    Other Offences related to: -
Driving while using a Mobile Phone,
    Vehicle Lights,
    Insecure Loads,
    Seat-Belt Offences.

    01/12/2009
PC Walker and PCSO Munro have conducted static / mobile patrols within the appropriate villages at various times of the day and to date no vehicle has been seen committing any offences.

The Safer neighbourhood group members are talking with the relevant Highways authority to identify a long term solution to large goods vehicles using this route.

    Our Solution
The Safer Neighbourhood Group feel that, as this issue will continue it will not remain as one of their priorities. However we as a Safer Neighbourhood Team will continue to take an active part along with the local Community Speed Watch Groups.
However the local authorities are now looking at implementing a weight restriction with in the locations and further action on this will be implemented within the District and Parish Councils.
This has been fed back through the Safer Neighbourhood Group Meeting and into the Community to give them the progress of this priority.
The community have thanked the Safer Neighbourhood Group for their attention to this priority and have praised the Safer Neighbourhood Team for their continued help.
  • Local School Parking Issues   Show details

The Safer Neighbourhood Team will be conducting high visibility patrols in and around the locality of the school at the appropriate times.

We will be engaging with the school, vehicle owners and pupils to highlight the issues and dangers that these parked vehicles are causing and that we will be there to ensure the pupils safety as they travel to and from school.

We will be stopping and speaking to the drivers found to be causing a danger / obstruction when they park their vehicles and we will be issuing fixed penalty notices to vehicles that are found to be committing any offences.

    08/07/2010
This priority has been reviewed and you the Community have said you would like it closing, but have asked if we the Safer Neighbourhood Team would continue to monitor the parking, which we have agreed to do.

    28/06/2010
You the Community and the Safer Neighbourhood Team will be reviewing this priority at the next Safer Neighbourhood Group Meeting.

    04/05/2010
The Safer Neighbourhood Team attended the Local school Travel Plan Meeting along with the Head and Governors of the local School, Local Residents and a member from the Nottinghamshire County Council Road Safety.
We have produced a joint letter to highlight the concerns about child safety around the school entrance when Vehicles Park causing an obstruction. This will be distributed to local residents who live near the school and vehicle owners who drive to the school.
We have also discussed having a Walk to School Day for the children that we as the Safer Neighbourhood Team will look forward to taking part in.

    01/04/2010
As you may have seen around the entrance to the local school, Yellow Lines have appeared.
These have been put in place by the local Highways Authority to help highlight the need to keep a certain area clear of vehicles to help with the safe ingress and egress of pupil.
The Safer Neighbourhood Team will continue to patrol and monitor the parking giving out advice and when necessary the issuing of Fixed Penalty Notices for any obstructions seen.

    05/03/2010
The Safer Neighbourhood Team have continued to provide High Visibility Patrols in and around the areas. We have still not found any vehicle to be committing any offence that we could issue a fixed penalty for.

    03/01/2010
To date no vehicle has been found committing any offence that we could issue a fixed penalty ticket for. A number of vehicle owners have been spoken to and our advice seems to have been well received.

02/12/2009 PC Walker and PCSO Munro have conducted high visibility patrols around the school entrance, which has provided reassurance to the pupils as they enter and leave school

    Our Solution
Without the local Authorities creating further parking for the local school this issue will always remain within the community if not as a national priority.
The Safer Neighbourhood Team will however continue to monitor these vehicles and drivers and take the appropriate action when needed.
Our main objective is to create a safer community for these pupils that go to and from the school and with their help we will make every attempt to progress further with this priority.

Parking problems caused by motorists attending the school to drop off and collect children.

    Our Response
To work in partnership with the school, residents and motorists to find a solution to a nationwide problem.

    Our Solution
This priority will remain on our High Visibility Patrols to help to educate any driver that parks near to the school and causes a danger to children attending and leaving school.
The school in question has taken a big part in speaking to parents when they do park up causing a danger and with help from the children this is proving to have an effective outcome.
Some local parents are beginning to walk their children to school, while others are parking away from the school gates to help to alleviate the problem.
