Edwinstowe and Clipstone
The beat area covers the villages of Edwinstowe, Kings Clipstone and the parts of Clipstone that fall within the Newark and Sherwood District Council area. It is surrounded by mainly forest area made up of four seperate parks, these being Rufford, Sherwood Pines Country Park, Vicar Water country park and Sherwood Forest. The area is mainly an ex-mining community, and as such is very close knit with strong family values being up held by most. A working colliery, Thoresby colliery, is situated near Edwinstowe and employs a number of local people. Clipstone lies on the out skirts of Forest Town. Edwinstowe stands alone between Warsop and Ollerton and is a popular tourist area, due to it's connection with the Robin Hood story and near by Center Parcs Holiday Village.
Under the Policing Pledge, this is a rural beat and has a 20 minute emergency response time. For an explanation of what this means click here.

Beat Update
Cluster level priorities for the Sherwood area of Newark and Sherwood District are set at quarterly Priority Setting Meetings held at Kelham Hall. These meetings consist of the local neighbourhood Policing Inspector and the chairs of the Safer Neighbourhood Groups from each of the beat team areas who raise the issues brought to them at the local Safer neighbourhood Group. The dates for these meetings are shown in each beat area. Also considered are local crime and anti social behaviour trends and the results of crime surveys. The dates for the priority setting meetings which are open to the public and are held at 17 30 are;
• Tuesday 17th April 2012
• Thursday 19th July 2012
• Tuesday 16th October 2012
We are now offering a 'Text Alert' service where you can be updated by text about crimes or suspicious incidents in your area. If you would like to join the scheme you can pick an application up from Southwell or Ollerton police stations or sign up online on www.businesswatch.co.uk and when it asks for a business type select 'carer'.
The issues being tackled by the Safer Neighbourhood Team in October, November and December 2011;
At last Safer Neighbourhood Group meeting, it was agreed that Edwinstowe and Clipstone would now have seperate meetings in future to allow each area to propose its own priorities.
Dates/venues for the next meeting have yet to be arranged for Clipstone, but from speaking to local residents and councilors, the area priorities remain the same.
It was raised at the last Parish council meeting that street parking is becoming an issue once again, mainly on King John road and Highfield road. Due to this, the priorities have been reordered as such.
1/ Inconsiderate parking within Clipstone.
2/ Anti Social Behaviour on Vicar Water Park and around the Fourth Avenue play area.
3/ Off road Motorcycles on Greendale Crescent and the Old Colliery Site.
Edwinstowe
1/ ASB Friars Park play area
2/ Problems around the Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre and Forest End car parks
3/ Speeding vehicles, particular roads, Mansfield Rd, Ollerton Rd, Mill Lane, Rufford Road.

Update March 2012
Edwinstowe
ASB – We are receiving numerous calls in relation to St Mary’s Church experiencing ongoing issues with anti social behaviour. There has been criminal damage, graffiti, littering and general nuisance behaviour reported in the last few months, generally in the evenings and involving large groups of youths. We have increased patrols and are trying to identify the group involved. If you have any information as to who is responsible, please call one of the numbers below. Once we identify those involved, we can begin to take action against the individuals.
Edwinstowe Health Centre is also experiencing problems with ASB. The problems are occurring between 730pm and 1130pm and again, involve gangs of youths causing a disturbance. If you see any anti social behaviour at the Health Centre, please report it.
DRUGS – We are interested to hear from anybody with information involving drug supplying in Edwinstowe. Drugs are a common problem but with information received from you, we can start to target the drug dealers and reduce drug crime.
Please report any information on the numbers below or anonymously to Crime stoppers on 0800555111
The next Edwinstowe Surgery is on 17/04/2012 at 1030am at Edwinstowe Village Hall
Clipstone
Motor bike nuisance – We are still experiencing a high volume of calls in relation to motor bikes/mopeds causing problems in Clipstone. Baulker Lane is one of the worst areas effected but we have also had calls reporting problems on Greendale Crescent and Squires Lane. Police patrols have increased and action is being taken against the culprits. Please report any problems on one of the numbers below.
ASB – There have been many calls in relation to anti social behaviour reported on Vicars Court, Church Road and Fifth Avenue. After ongoing enquiries to identify the suspects, a group of youths have now been identified. These individuals have been visited by the Police, the ASB officer and Newark and Sherwood Homes and acceptable behaviour contracts are being drawn up which will hopefully put an end to the problems. If you experience any problems, please report them on one of the numbers below.
Dog Fouling – After receiving complaints from residents on the Cavendish Park Estate, ourselves, in conjunction with the Parish Council have been conducting early morning patrols in the area to identify any dog walkers that are not cleaning up after their dogs. We have more dates planned for these patrols in April and are hoping that this reduces the issues on the estate.
The next Clipstone Surgery is on 23/04/2012 at 1030am at Clipstone Village Hall

Update February 2012
Anti-social behaviour – We are experiencing a number of calls in relation to anti social behaviour in both Edwinstowe and Clipstone. The majority seem to be in relation to gangs of youths being rowdy and causing nuisance to members of the public. We treat these calls very seriously and youths identified as being involved in causing ASB will be dealt with accordingly.
One specific problem which has now been dealt with is problems with youths outside the Coop in Clipstone at lunchtimes. The local PCSO worked with the school and managed to identify the youths involved. They have received home visits to their parents and the Newark and Sherwood ASB team are now involved. We have not had any further issues there to date.
At Edwinstowe, a lot of the ASB problems seem to be occurring around the car park and surrounding areas up at the Forest. We have increased patrols in these areas and require the names of the youths involved so we can take further action. Please contact us if you have any information.
If you have any problems with ASB where you live – please report it to us.
Vehicle crime – There were seven reports of vehicle crime in Clipstone in January. Some reports involved items being taken from the vehicles and others were reports of damage. Please do not make your car look attractive to thieves – ensure your vehicle is locked and do not leave items in view. Seek advice from your local PCSO.
Vehicle nuisance – We are receiving repeated calls in relation to 4x4 vehicles causing a nuisance around Baulker Lane, Clipstone and on the disused railway track.
If you see or hear any vehicles acting suspiciously or causing a nuisance, please report it.
BE AWARE – We have had two reports from Edwinstowe that cash points have been tampered with. Devices have been fitted to the cash machines in an attempt to gain card details/steal money. If you think that a cash machine looks like it has been tampered with, please do not use the machine and report it ASAP. We are currently looking into these incidents in an attempt to identify the suspect.
Neighbourhood Alert – If you would like information/updates about crime/suspicious incidents and updates in your area, please got to the Nottinghamshire website and click on Nottinghamshire Portal on the right hand side. You will then be asked for your details and once we have these, you will begin receiving updates free of charge. Please ask your local PCSO for assistance with this if required.
