Completed Neighbourhood Priorities
- Anti social behaviour Rufford Avenue and sorrounding streets Rainworth Show details
Rowdy and nuisance behaviour by young people mainly in the evening throughout the week including criminal damage being caused to fences and vehicles.
This was agreed as a neighbourhood priority at the Local Area Group meeting held on the 28/01/2010.
Our Response
All residents to be surveyed re the problems and information sought regarding those responsible
Those identified to be dealt with by the police and Newark and Sherwood ASB team.
Increased patrols by the police.
Update May 2010; In response to your concerns, the following initiatives have taken place,
·regular Police and Newark & Sherwood District Council officer patrols in the area
·advisory letters sent to 8 sets of parents concerning their children’s alleged behaviour in the community
·9 young people have been identified as being involved in criminal damage, throwing objects at properties, rowdy nuisance behaviour, and targeting vulnerable people
·4 young people have received Police reprimands / fixed penalty notices for criminal damage
·4 young people have received Acceptable Behaviour Contracts banning them from the area for a period of 6 months
·contact has been made with the Youth Inclusion and Support Programme (YISP) to undertake some support work with these young people to look at unacceptable behaviour and consequences
·Crimestopper assemblies have been held in the local schools to advise young people on their behaviour, to encourage young people to report incidents of bad or criminal behaviour, and to participate in a poster competition about acceptable behaviour
·Newark & Sherwood District Council’s dog warden has patrolled the area, erecting new signage about dog fouling and consequences.
Further work planned for May 2010 / June 2010 is;
·Regular patrols will continue to monitor the situation
·There are a further 2 young people to been seen in relation to criminal damage and anti-social behaviour
·Those young people already seen have been asked to give written apologies for causing criminal damage, nuisance, and distress to residents and copies of these will be given to specific households that have suffered such behaviour. Some of these letters have already been received and have been hand delivered to the victims of these crime.
Update August 2010; patrols have continued in the area and the number of complaints of anti social behaviour have reduced. We will continue to monitor the situation with a view to removing this as a priority at the next Safer Neighbourhood Group meeting.

Alochol seizures from those under age and drinking in street. - Vandalism and anti social behaviour Maid Marion Play Park and Crompton Road in Bilsthorpe Show details
There are ongoing problems with vandalism and antisocial behaviour on the Maid Marion Play Park and around Crompton Road in Bilsthorpe particularly in the late evenings on weekdays and on Fridays and Saturdays between 6pm-11pm.
This was agreed as a neighbourhood priority at the Local Area Group meeting held on the 28/01/2010.
Our Response
We will conduct high profile patrols using Beat Officers, PCSOs and Special Constables in the affected areas, including into the early morning.
Stop/search procedures will be conducted on individuals or groups who are believed to have alcohol or drugs in their possession.
Any alcohol will be seized from underage drinkers. Any groups of youths seen will be spoken to advised about their behaviour and enforcement action taken if required.
Warning letters will also be sent to parents by the antisocial behaviour team from Newark and Sherwood District Council.
We will continue to work with community groups in Bilsthorpe to provide alternative activities for young people.
Update August 2010; We have continued high visibility patrols in the area and conducted a survey of nearby residents. The number of complaints has reduced considerably and we will continue to conduct patrols in the area to ensure this remains the same.
Our Solution
Addiitonal police patrols in area, main offenders identified and warned - Speeding Show details
Speeding cars/motorcycles has been identified as a priority, particularly on the A6097/A612 at Lowdham during the daytime and evening, A617 Kirklington, Eakring and coaches taking workers to Staythorpe Power Station in the morning between 6am and 8am.
This was agreed as a neighbourhood priority at the Local Area Group meeting held on the 28/01/2010 and reaffirmed on the 10/05/2010.
Our Response
We will encourage and support local Community Speedwatch schemes to help us to identify the persistent offenders and target them more effectively.
Beat officers will use the handheld speed camera to identify offending vehicles. We will advise, caution or prosecute motorists depending on each individual circumstance. Persistent offenders will be repeatedly targeted.
Update August 2010; The safer neighbourhood team will be operating in the area during August using the hand held speed gun at sites the public have identified as being problematic.

Staythorpe power station now complete. attention has been paid by mobile speed operations - Antisocial behaviour - Preston Road Rainworth Show details
There have been problems with vandalism and antisocial behaviour on Preston Road in Rainworth particularly in the lunch time 12.15pm until 1.30pm during the school term time during the week and on Friday and Saturday evenings between 6pm to 11pm.
This was decided at the area SNG on 2nd November 2009 by agreement of all parties present.
Our Response
We will conduct high profile patrols using Beat Officers, PCSOs and Special Constables in the on Preston Road, the park, behind the shops and on surrounding streets.
Any alcohol found on underage persons will be seized. Any groups of youths seen will spoken to advised about their behaviour and enforcement action taken if required.
Letters will also be sent to parents by the antisocial behaviour team from Newark and Sherwood District Council.
We will continue to work with Nottinghamshire County Council Trading Standards to ensure local shops are not selling alcohol to those under age.
Update December 2009; The Neighbourhood Policing Team have patrolled this area at school lunchtime on 15th, 16th and 18th December and during the evenings on 2nd and 4th and 18th December. These patrols will continue.
Update February 2010; Patrols by the Safer Neighbourhood Team have continued in the area during the eveningsTest purchase operations have been conducted in Rainworth and Blidworth on the 05/02/10 to reduce the purchase of alcohol to those underage. 7 premises were visited and 2 sold to an underage person. Those responsible will be issued with £80 penalty notices. We will repeat the operatrion in the future to ensure that alcohol is not being sold to under age people.
