Update February 2012
Blidworth
ASB Issues - TESCO Express on Dale Lane & residents on Rockings View have both recently experienced a high spate of anti social behaviour involving young persons riding their scooters across the car parks of both areas, narrowly avoiding reversing vehicles. Since January 2012, large numbers of young persons have been loitering around the entrance to the TESCO and refusing to get off the trolleys situated next to the entrance. We have listened to your concerns and proactively approached these individuals together with their parents by means of issuing stop forms and letters. It is good to see that these types of incidents have now drastically reduced and become increasingly rare. Thank you for your ongoing support with this issue, we are aware that it is difficult for the young persons to have somewhere safe to play and socialise but do not want to put themselves or other road users in danger.
The Blidworth Youth Club at Sherwood Community Church on Main Street is still up and running for the younger children on a Wednesday evening from 6:30pm but unfortunately due to a number of issues, the youth club at the Methodist Church for the 11-14yrs has now closed for the foreseeable future. There are discussions taking place as to a new venue or visits by the Youth Bus.
Dogs running loose & fouling Issues - This remains an issue on Marriott Lane & Sherwood Avenue where residents are allowing their dogs to run free and not under control. These areas have been specifically signposted for dogs to be kept off due to young persons playing and health & safety issues.
Please use dog bags to clean up after your dog, there is up to a £1,000 fine for allowing your dog to foul in a public place and not pick up after it.
Road issues - Speeding, mobile phones, no seatbelts. Inconsiderate parking.
Please be aware that there are increased patrols in and around Blidworth & Rainworth for speeding vehicles, persons using their mobile phones and not using their seat belts. You can be issued with a non endorsable fixed penalty notice of £60 for failing to wear your seatbelt and not conforming to DVLA standards regarding how your registration plate is displayed.
You can be issued with an endorsable (points on your driving licence) fixed penalty notice of £60 for speeding offences, no insurance and using a mobile phone.
Belle Vue Lane, specifically outside the Leisure Centre, continues to be a hotspot for inconsiderate parking. If the Leisure Centre car park is full, please don't block the junction with Mansfield Road by parking half way up both sides of the pavement, there is additional parking on Burma Road
(Industrial Estate), a short walk away.
Large scale disorder Lyndhurst Avenue – On the 20/01/2012 and 28/01/2012 two incidents took place on the junction of Charworth Street and Byron Street whereby persons were involved in a road traffic collision, a disturbance occurred directly connected with this and subsequently four persons were seriously hurt the following Friday night with weapons used. Both incidents appear to be connected and specifically targeted within the group of persons involved rather than a random attack on members of the public. If you witnessed any part of the two incidents and can offer any information, please contact the Officer dealing - PC 505 Annette JOHNSON at Blidworth Police Station on 0759 5007 505. Alternatively you can remain anonymous & call Crime stoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111.
Rainworth
ASB issues - The Primary Care Trust Centre on Warsop Lane and the shops on Sherwood Parade, Kirklington Road are experiencing young persons loitering, causing damage and riding their scooters around the car parks and through the walk way near to the entrance doors of the surgeries. We have listened to your concerns and have issued stop forms to the individuals involved, contacted parents by letter or visit and happy to say that these incidents have reduced. Whilst we appreciate that the young persons are limited to where they can ride their scooters, it is not safe or acceptable to allow them to continue to intimidate customers and service users by blocking the doorways.
Sadly due to a report of damage with grease being smeared across the walls, lamp posts and pavements outside the Warsop Lane Centre, their relaxed acceptance regarding young persons gathering there has now been revoked. A young male will be arrested in the near future for this damage which has been captured on CCTV. Please do emphasise to your children that both of these areas are not to be used as a social gathering place.
The Rainworth Youth Club is available for both Blidworth & Rainworth residents, this is open on a Wednesday evening from 6:30pm. There is also a Skate park association meeting where young persons are invited to the next meeting on Friday 2nd March to look at how to progress the proposed skate park in Rainworth
Cannabis Cultivations - Another successful Cannabis Cultivation was disrupted in Rainworth during this last week. If you have any suspicions regarding the smell of Cannabis, windows and doors that appear to have been covered with plastic or suspicious behaviour, frequency of visits at various times of day & night when you thought the property was unoccupied, please let the beat team know by telephoning 101 which will connect you to Nottinghamshire Police Control room, by contacting their individual contact numbers listed below or by ringing Crime stoppers confidentially & anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Neighbourhood Alert – If you would like information/updates about crime/suspicious incidents and updates in your area, please got to the Nottinghamshire website and click on Nottinghamshire Portal on the right hand side. You will then be asked for your details and once we have these, you will begin receiving updates free of charge. Please ask your local PCSO for assistance with this if required.
