Worksop North Cluster

The North East area has the highest population density of the six West Bassetlaw Beat areas. Encompassing Kilton, Prospect, Valley and half of the Gateford Estate, the North East area is bracketed by the large expanse of Kilton Golf Course, open countryside out towards Carlton in Lindrick and the Robin Hood train line. Overall it is a more affluent area than much of Worksop, with new estates continually being added on the fringes.

The North West Beat area is made up of the geographical areas of Sandy Lane, West Gateford, Rhodesia and Shireoaks. There are three small industrial estates, which are easily accessible to the A57 Worksop ring road, which runs through the western side of the area.

The Sandy Lane estate borders the town centre beat area with the Chesterfield Canal acting as a natural border between the two. The Gateford estate is situated at the far north of the area.

Situated to the west of the Chesterfield canal are the villages of Rhodesia, and Shireoaks.

Neighbourhood Priorities

Through consultation with the members of the public in this neighbourhood we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.

  • Anti-social behaviour Show details
    The North of Worksop, in particular Celtic Point, Mary Street in Rhodesia and Valley Road have all witnessed a number of anti-social behaviour attributed to youths consuming alcohol and becoming involved in matters such as minor criminal damage, taunting of members of the public, shouting obscenities and hanging around doorways of local shops intimidating the visitors.

    Our Response
    * Use of covert and overt patrols
    * Operation Animism – An operation dedicated to anti-social behaviour which is a structured operation and focuses on hot spot locations and offenders.
    * Alcohol 1,2,3 which is a scheme running jointly with the council and NHS to raise awareness of alcohol misuse and an attempt to divert youths from being involved in such matters
    * ASBO’S for repeat offenders
    * Parenting order with those repeat offenders whereby parents refuse to engage
    * Working closely with stores with the use of CCTV to identify individuals involved in anti-social behaviour.
  • Vehicle Nuisance - off-road motorcycles Show details
    The borough of Worksop has witnessed a rise in the use of off-road motorcycles being ridden both on and off road by people that invariably don't hold a license or insurance. They often place pedestrians at risk of injury and are a constant annoyance to community of Worksop. Particular locations of interest on the North area of Worksop are both Gateford estates, Prospect and Kilton.

    Our Response
    * Covert and overt patrols
    * Use of off-road motorbike team
    * Zero tolerance approach to such instances utilising powers of seizure, arrest, and summons
    * Crime stoppers leaflet drops in the area to glean valuable community intelligence as to who the offenders are, where they live, and what bike(s) they have access to
  • Burglary Other Show details
    There are three locations that have been regularly targetted over the past four years, thus being; Bassetlaw District Hospital, North Nottinghamshire College, and a number of allotments situated on Gateford Road, Worksop. It is believed they are targetted for electrical items, power tools, and computors. All have occured overnight using force to gain entry.
