    Update October 2010.

Throughout the Summer patrols have been conducted by the local beat team, response officers, and partner agencies including the Ashfield District Community Protection Service.

Licensing visits were conducted, resulting in at least 5 Section 19 closure notices being issued, which prohibit the premises from activity on their license, until whatever breach of their license has been rectified. Each notice also resulted in a prosecution. This action will continue to ensure that such premises are safe for public use, by ensuring that the conditions of the license are adhered to.

Alcohol related activity has also been scrutinised - including public houses in the area being visited and in some cases have been subject to sanctions regarding breaching their licensing conditions.

    We will:
Identify, via intelligence led policing, premises where alcohol is being bought by under age purchasers or by adults on behalf of those under-age i.e proxy purchasing.

Task the Youth Issues Officers to highlight this problem in Secondary Schools in Mansfield via school assemblies and the Safer Schools Notice Boards

On consultation with the chairs/vice chairs of the safer neighbourhoods committees covering Sutton and Kirkby in Ashfield, coupled with numerous completed survey forms, anti-social behaviour at the above location was highlighted as a priority.

    Our Response
    26/3/11

Stanton Hill has maintained the 50% reduction in ASB since the last update, but there are still issues regarding certain types of anti-social behaviour, including youths being rowdy in the street, and instances of criminal damage.

We have increased visibility in the area at identified peak times, and have recently prosecuted individuals for offences under the Public Order Act regarding rowdy nuisance type behaviour. We have also been speaking with local residents to narrow down the persons responsible for disruption people going about their normal every day life, and are making further enquiries with a view to obtaining evidence to see whether they can be prosecuted.

As a result of information provided by the community, we have also executed Drugs act warrants at various addresses, resulting in several arrests and prosecutions for drug related offences.

Remember if you have any information pertaining to activity or offences at this location, speak to your beat team, or call Crimestoppers. Tel 0800 555111.

    4/2/11:

Stanton Hill has continued to enjoy stability regarding Anti-social behaviour (ASB) as a result of the initiatives commenced during the summer of 2010. December 2010 saw a stark increase in reporting of ASB, due to the heavy snow falls and associated reporting of snow-balling etc. Partner agencies increased patrols in the area, and also all agencies advised those caught committing this ASB, as well as the parents (where applicable), of the effect this kind of ASB can have!

January 2011 saw a reduction back to previously reported seasonal levels of ASB, and initiatives around ASB, drug related activity and housing conditions are planned for during February 2011.

Remember if you have any information pertaining to activity or offences at this location, speak to your beat team, or call Crimestoppers. Tel 0800 555111.

    Update October 2010.

Nottinghamshire Police, together with its partner agencies including Ashfield District Council (Tenancy enforcement and Community Protection Service), instigated a series of measures at this location, to assist the local community re concerns they had re various issues, including anti-social behaviour, drugs activity and other issues. This took the form of all agencies doing 124 neighbourhood surveys on several streets, with the aim of re-surveys the same location at the beginning of October 2010.

As a result of what we were told, several measures were taken, including:
Drugs and theft act warrants where applicable being executed on several locations culminating in several prosecutions,
Tenancy visits/inspections were done by Police/Ashfield District Council,
The deployment of the Police Confidence Unit (a team of four Police Community Support officers) to reassure local residents and community members, and also to assist in the prevention and detection of ASB and other offences.

These and other measures we then evaluated by conducting a further survey, of which over 100 forms were reviewed, to see if the measures had been effective. 75% of residents said they had no problems, or had noticed a significant improvement in quality of life.

Notwithstanding the above success, the Confidence Unit will still be at Stanton Hill, adhering to a patrol plan linked to data and information re peak times for ASB.

Progress has been made by partner agencies with regard to the redevelopment of Warwick Close. Nottinghamshire Police are supporting this by ensuring suitably targeted patrols are conducted on the Estate and in particular in this location as part of the recently publicised operation Animism – which is specifically to allocate officers to areas at peak times in relation to anti-social behaviour incidents.

The Ashfield District Council Community Protection Service has been patrolling this area as one of their objectives in their patrol plans.

We have also executed several warrants within this area, as a result of information received, in relation to drugs misuse, and the handling/receiving of stolen goods. We will continue to act on such information to ensure we maximise opportunities to catch, arrest and prosecute persons for such offences.

    Update May 2010:

We take positive steps to deal with incidents reported to us and tackle the people responsible. We consult with our communities regularly to ask for feedback and opinions. We also keep people informed about the work we are doing through Safer Neighbourhood Committee meetings and the media.

    Berry Avenue Area:

    26/3/11

Berry Avenue continues to see an increase in reported Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB). We are making enquiries with several residents to see what can be done to reduce these instances. We are also working in conjunction with other partner agencies, including Ashfield Homes, to ensure residents on the street feel supported re what they are dealing with, or if they are part of the problem they understand the implications in continuing the behaviour in question.

ASB patrols under Operation Animism are being targeted to the area, and officers will deal positively with any offences disclosed.

This area continues to attract focus from partner agencies, as a result of request from the Local Area Committee’s request for it to remain so.

It has seen sustained reductions in anti-social behaviour and other crime. This has been achieved in part as a result of good information being supplied by the community, resulting in appropriately targeted patrols being conducted by the Police, and partner agencies including the Ashfield District Council Community Protection Service.

Remember if you have any information pertaining to activity or offences at this location, speak to your beat team, or call Crimestoppers

This will be reviewed as has been described under the pending local area priority review.

    We will:
