Kirkby In Ashfield Town Centre

Kirkby in Ashfield Town Centre is situated between the western end of Lowmoor Road and the eastern end of Kingsway. It also borders with the junction of Station Road and Diamond Avenue. It is well known for the Harold Larwood statue which takes pride of place in the centre of the pedestrian area.

Beat Priorities

Through consultation with the members of the public in this beat we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.

  • Shop Lifting Show details
    Shop lifting has been identified as priority predominately in the Supermarkets and pedestrianised areas.

    Our Response
    Update May 2010- High visibility patrols are being conducted by the local beat team. The Community Protection Officers also regularly patrol the town centre and feedback any intelligence or information. The beat team work closey with the CCTV system currently set up, and this helps identify suspects. The beat team are still attempting to set up a radio link within the town centre area.



    Update December 2009- High visibility patrols are being conducted by the Safer Neighbourhood Team in the hotspot areas. Radio link to be established to enable shops to network and provide awareness of potential shoplifters. If you have any further information then please contact us.

Beat Update

Update - 3rd April 2010
A beat surgery was conducted between 10.00am and 12.00pm in Kirkby Library, Kirkby Town Centre. PCSO NUTTALL issued 20 surveys.

Update- 12th June 2010
PCSO 6311 GREGG and PCSO 4674 LEWIS conducted a beat surgery in Kirkby Library situated in the precinct area. Both officer's liased with members of the public and discussed various issues and concerns. Officer's were present in the library between 10.00am and 12.00pm. Neighbourhood priority surveys were also completed. This engagement was an excellent opportunity to liase with members of the public that reside in various area's.

Update- 24th July 2010
PCSO 6311 GREGG and PCSO 4674 LEWIS conducted a further beat surgery at Kirkby Library between 10.00am and 12.00pm. Officers engaged with members of the public and discussed issues and concerns.

Update- 28th August 2010
PCSO 6311 GREGG conducted a beat surgery at Haldanes, Station Street between 10.00am and 12.00pm. PCSO 6311 GREGG liased with various residents, and discussed local issues and concerns.
On the same date, PCSO 4674 LEWIS and CPO 10414 PAINTER conducted a beat surgery at Kirkby library between 10.00am and 12.00pm.
