Meet the Neighbourhood Policing

Inspector Nick Butler

Inspector Butler says: “My ambition was always to be a Police Officer and in 1992 I joined Nottinghamshire Police.

"I served within the Sutton-in-Ashfield area for a number of years and then specialised within various CID and intelligence roles tackling burglars and drug dealers."

Inspector Butler has also worked as the force lead for problem solving and was commended as Problem Solver of the Year. He was also the Neighbourhood Policing Project Manager, based at Police Headquarters, near Arnold.

In September 2010, Inspector Butler returned to the Ashfield area as the Neighbourhood Policing Inspector.

He said: “It has now been a year since I arrived as the Inspector in Ashfield South and I am pleased to say that we have reduced crime to record low levels. 

"Serious acquisitive crime, which we know as house burglary, robbery and vehicle crime, has reduced again this year by another 20 per cent.

"We are detecting more crime than ever and I am proud to say that satisfaction levels are some of the highest in the country. We are working really hard to tackle antisocial behaviour too. 

"Each month we meet with all our partner agencies to discuss vulnerable people and put plans in place to protect them. 

"In November 2011 we launched the Street Pastors scheme in Hucknall and they have been very well received by the local community. They help to get people home safely and signpost others into support for drugs and alcohol issues.

“Please would you also take the time to complete our Neighbourhood Priority Survey.

"Tell us what is happening in your area and what issues matter to you. We collate the results and they help us decide what our policing priorities will be for the next three months in your area.
