Beat Priorities

Through consultation with the members of the public in this beat we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.

  • Drug Misuse and Supply - Warsop area Show details
Decided in consultation with local residents and through the use of questionnaires.

Drug misuse and supply in and around the area of Warsop, causing local residents general concern and nuisance.

    Our Response
    July Update

Safer Neighbourhood Team to gather intelligence on individuals/addresses involved in drug misuse/supply.

Safer Neighbourhood team to act upon any information gathered inconjunction with other agencies such as Mansfield District Council Housing Dept and Local Housing Associations.

Warrents to be applied for through the courts and executed on address believed to be used to misuse/store/supply drugs.

Stop searches to be carried out on individuals believed to be involved in the misuse/supply of drugs.
  • Motorcycle Nuisance - Oakfield lane / Robin Hood Avenue Show details
Decided in consultation with local residents and through use of questionnaires

Motorcycles / mini motos / quad bikes being ridden on roads/lanes and other areas that public have access causing a danger to both themselves and other pedestrians and road users. This also causes a great nuisance to the local residents.

    Our Response
    July 2010 Update

It has been decided in consultation with the public at the local priority meeting 29/06/2010 that this priority should remain until our next meeting.

The Beat Team are continuing high visibility patrols in the area, including joint patrols with the neighbourhood wardens.

Further Warning notices have been issued to individuals throughout June, warning them that if they are found riding on public land again within the next 12 months the bike/quad they are using will be seized.

A number of off road motorbikes/quads that have previously recieved warning notices have been seized by the Police in the Warsop area in June.

It has been noted that the signs placed to inform the public of the consequences of unauthorised riding of off road bikes/quads have mysteriously gone missing! However these will be replaced by the Safer Neighbourhood team in July!

The beat team and neighbourhood wardens will conduct high visibility patrols in this area to deter possible offenders.

Any individuals identified will receive a section 59 warning notice that states the bike/quad will be seized if they are found committing the same offence again within the next 12 months. If the identified offender has already received a warning then the bike/quad will be seized.

Any individual identified using a quad/off road bike on a public road will be prosecuted for the relevant driving offences.

A number of Police officers will hopefully soon be fully trained in using off road motocycles which we hope to be able to utilise to tackle this priority.

    May 2010 update

The safer neighbourhood team has increased high visibility patrols in this area, including joint patrols with the neighbourhood wardens.

A number of individuals have been issued with section 59 warning notices in this area, warning them that if they are found to be riding on public land again within the next 12 months their bike/quad will be confiscated by the Police.

A number of signs have beeen placed to inform the public that unauthorised riding of off road bikes/quads in this area is not permitted.
  • Anti-Social Behaviour - Clumber Street / High Street Show details
Decided in consultation with local residents and through use of questionnaires

Groups of teenagers gathering and causing a nuisance to the local residents and shopkeepers in the evenings. In particular underage drinking on Friday and Saturday evenings.

    Our Response
    July 2010 Update

It has been decided in consultation with the public at the priorities meeting 29/06/2010 that this issue should still remain a very high priority. However it was felt that the area should be extended to include Watson Street and Welbeck Street, and that the issue was no longer prominent on the Warsop High Street.

Operation Animism is still ongoing, and the Clumber Street area is one of the areas that this operation will regulrly target in the hope of preventing/reducing incidents of anti-social behaviour.

Many names and addresses have been taken from groups of young people 'hanging' around in this area and 'Stop' forms issued to the individuals concerned.

On a number of occasions individuals who have appeared to be particularly intoxicated have been returned home to Parents.

Alcohol has continued to be confiscated from underage individuals in this area, and the Designated Public Place Order enforced where individuals have been over the age of 18 but deemed to causing a nuisance, alarm or distress to local residents.

We have ongoing engagement with other agencies, including:- fire brigade, youth services, extended school services and Mansfield District Council anti-social behaviour team in order to look at setting up diversionary activities for the local teenagers to participate in.

    April 2010 Update

The local Beat Team will conduct regular High visibility patrols along the High Street and Clumber Street and surrounding areas.

Operation Animism will pay attention to the area specifically targeting Anti-social behaviour.

Names and addresses will be taken of any individuals congregating in these areas in the evenings, and taken home to parents when appropriate.

Any individual found in possession of alcohol under the age of 18 will have the alcohol confiscated and their details taken for a letter/visit to parents.

Joint patrols with the neighbourhood wardens will be conducted.

The beat team will ensure that the Designated Public Place Order is abided by.

Individuals that are repeatedly found in this area causing a nuisance will be asked to sign to an Acceptable Behaviour Contract with a condition not to congregate in this area.

    May 2010 Update

The Safer Neighbourhood Team has increased high visibility foot patrols in this area, including joint foot patrols with the Neighbourhood Wardens.

Operation Animism is ongoing and still paying attention to this area as one of the anti-social behaviour 'hotspots'.

Groups of teenagers have regularly been moved on from this area, where it has been deemed the group could be found intimidating to members of the public or local residents.

Alcohol has been confiscated from a number of underage youths in this area, and the Designated Public Place Order enforced where individuals have been over 18yrs.

We are currently engaging with other agencies, including:- fire brigade, youth services, extended school services and Mansfield District Council anti-social behaviour team in order to look at setting up diversionary activities for the local teenagers to participate in.

Beat Update

July 2010

As you may well have noticed, we have worked closely with the Parks department of Mansfield District Council and the fencing and gates on the Carr Lane entrance to the Carrs have now been re-located in front of the car parking area. This has been done with the aim of reducing incidents of anti-social behaviour and the gathering of vehicles in the evening causing a disturbance to local residents.

June has again seen a high number of confiscations of alcohol from underage individuals and from individuals over 18years drinking in a Designated Public Place that have been deemed to be behaving in an anti-social manner.

On Wednesday 30/06/2010 we carried out a multi-agency day of ‘Action’. This included execution of a drugs warrant in the Warsop area, DVLA patrolling the area for unlicensed vehicles, Trading Standards, Foot patrols with a local Councillor, Leicester Housing officer and Neighbourhood Warden – particularly on Clumber Street where we conducted surveys with local residents about their particular Policing issues.

A Policing Priority Meeting was held with local residents and local Councillors on Tuesday 29/06/2010. At this meeting 3 local issues were decided upon for particular attention to be paid by your local Safer neighbourhood policing team. These include: 1. Anti-social behaviour on Clumber Street, Watson Street and Welbeck Street, 2. Motor bike/quad nuisance on Oakfield Lane, Robin Hood Avenue and the Carrs and 3. Drug misuse and supply in the Warsop area. These will be reviewed at our next priority meeting in 3 months time.

The Warsop Birklands Safer Neighbourhood Team are pleased to say that reports of criminal damage are DOWN by 10% when compared to the same period last Year. However, on a slightly less positive note unfortunately reported incidents of anti-social behaviour have crept up by 11%.

The Mansfield North Safer Neighbourhood Team actively seeks any information that would contribute to our ongoing efforts to reduce crime on the area. Please contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or any of the beat mobile numbers listed on this site if you see anyone acting suspiciously. Crimestoppers is a free phone call. You do not have to leave your name or address. Your information is valuable to us. Crimestoppers does occasionally offer a reward for information provided that would lead to an arrest and conviction
