Completed Beat Priorities

  • Nuisance vehicles - Updated November   Show details

High visibility patrols, issuing warnings and tickets and confiscating vehicles as appropriate. Utilising the off road motorcycle team.

The beat team has now been trained in the use of mobile speed detection devices which will be used to deter offending and prosecute offenders.

Did you know that as a new driver, if you get 6 points on your license you will have to take a re-test? Think of how embarrassing that would be before speeding around Warsop.

    Our Solution
Road checks have been carried out in recent months on the A60 in Warsop. Tickets have been issued to drivers using mobile phones whilst driving. Warnings have been issued to people not using their seatbelts.
  • Nuisance behaviour   Show details
Issues caused by rowdiness and nuisance behaviour.

    Our Response
High profile patrols and gathering evidence about suspected offenders. Partnership working with other agencies in the area.

We have arrested a number of youths for offences associated with disorderly behaviour. We would ask parents to discuss with their children what is and is not an acceptable standard of behaviour when they are out with friends and how alcohol can blur the lines. Many youngsters we have dealt with don't find it so funny when they wake in a cell, have their parents called out and end up in trouble for behaviour they would not consider when sober.

    Our Solution
The Beat team and Special Constables have carried out patrols in hot spot areas for ASB. Council wardens and Local Parish Councillors have also been out on patrol. Alcohol has been confiscated from children and letters sent home to their parents
  • Environmental issues - Updated November   Show details

    Our Solution
This continues to be a main priority for the Beat team and a new action plan is to be drawn up alongside continued patrols and interventions with young people

Update March 2010 - Since liaising with the civil parking enforcement officer last month, Warsop has seen an increase of patrols by the parking officer.
The Safer neighbourhood team also continues to patrol the area on a regular basis to try and deter inconsiderate parking.

Any person found riding a motorcycle on a road without a licence or insurance will be prosecuted and have their vehicle seized. We will work with local landowners to deter people riding illegally on their land. We ask anyone with information about who is taking part in these activities to contact the Beat team

  • Theft of wheelie bins - River View / The Willows   Show details
Decided in consultation with local residents and through use of questionnaires

Wheelie bins being stolen from residents homes in the area and then often set on fire on the Carrs area.

    Our Response
The beat team will conduct joint high visibility patrols with the neighbourhood wardens in this area.

Members of the local Police beat team will extend late shifts to finish later specifically targetting this area in an attempt to catch/identify the perpetrator(s).

The local beat team will regularly liase with residents in this area in an attempt to identify the perpatrator(s).

The beat team will liaise and work with the Fire service in a joint effort to identify the perpetrator(s) and prevent further thefts and fires.

    May 2010 update

The Safer Neighbourhood Team has increased high visibility patrols in this area, particularly in the evenings.

We have held a meeting with a representative from the fire brigade, local Housing officer, neighbourhood wardens and local residents to address this issue and discuss possible solutions.

This month has so far seen a decrease in such reported incidents.

    Our Solution
In consultation with the public, combined with Police and Fire Service - it can be seen that the provision of new fencing on The Willows, the increased patrols and the residents preventative measures of chaining Wheelie bins together, has resulted in a vast reduction of calls to the Police and Fire service.

This great reduction (only 1 report in May and no reports at all in June) has meant that all parties present at the Priorities meeting on Tuesday 29/06/2010 believe that we can now focus attention on a new local issue.

    November 2010

November has seen a review of the local Policing Priorities by way of a meeting between the Local Beat Team and several community representatives. It has been decided that anti-social behaviour in the Clumber Street/High Street and Carr Lane areas is to remain one of the Warsop Birklands Beat Priorities.

Of course Op Animism is ongoing and will continue to pay attention to the area, and groups of kids congregating continue to be moved away from the area.

The consultation process for the proposed dispersal order for the area is now well under way, and we will keep keep you informed of progress.

    October 2010 Update
Although the anti-social behaviour issues and incidents reported to the police continue, September and October appears to have seen quite a reduction, particularly in the area of Clumber Street. Of course our increased patrols continue and the beat team have now held a meeting with many of the most affected residents and different council members to discuss a possible way forward towards solving this ongoing issue. As a result of this meeting we are now in the consultation process towards a proposed dispersal order for the affected areas.

    September 2010 update
Unfortunately the anti-social behaviour issues and incidents reported to the police continue, despite our best efforts with extra patrols and regularly moving groups away from the area. However the Safer Neighbourhood Team are in the process of arranging a meeting with some of the most affected residents, local councillors and council members to look at what actions can be taken to best resolve this issue.

Of course joint patrols with the neighbourhood wardens continue in an attempt to deter some of the local juveniles from congregating in this area.

    August 2010 update

Unfortunately the last two weeks in july has seen a slight increase in the number of incidents of anti-social behaviour reported in this area. This may relate to the fact that the school summer hoidays are now upon us. For this reason the Safer Neighbourhood Team intend to pay extra attention to this area, and are appealling for information about alcohol being supplied to underage teenagers. This will be done through a 'letter drop' along Clumber Street asking for information and through working closely with the local off licences.

Operation Animism is still ongoing, and the Clumber Street area is one of the areas that this operation will regularly target in the hope of preventing/reducing incidents of anti-social behaviour.

Futher names and address continue to be taken from groups of young people 'hanging' around in this area and 'Stop' forms issued to the individuals concerned.

Individuals that have appeared to be particularly intoxicated have been removed from the area and taken home to parents and advised.

The Safer Neighbourhood Team has continued to confiscate alcohol from underage individuals in this area, and the Designated Public Place Order is enforced where individuals have been over the age of 18 but deemed to causing a nuisance, alarm or distress to local residents.

There is ongoing engagement with other agencies, including:- fire brigade, youth services, extended school services and Mansfield District Council anti-social behaviour team in order to look at setting up diversionary activities for the local teenagers to participate in.

July has seen the 1st of three youth fishing events organised by the local police team and other agencies. The 1st event was very successful and enjoyable for the local children involved and the team look forward to the next two events which will be on the 5th and 12th of August. Such events have been organised in an attempt to divert local childrens attention away from 'hanging' about on the streets and towards more productive activities!

    July 2010 Update

It has been decided in consultation with the public at the priorities meeting 29/06/2010 that this issue should still remain a very high priority. However it was felt that the area should be extended to include Watson Street and Welbeck Street, and that the issue was no longer prominent on the Warsop High Street.

Operation Animism is still ongoing, and the Clumber Street area is one of the areas that this operation will regulrly target in the hope of preventing/reducing incidents of anti-social behaviour.

Many names and addresses have been taken from groups of young people 'hanging' around in this area and 'Stop' forms issued to the individuals concerned.

On a number of occasions individuals who have appeared to be particularly intoxicated have been returned home to Parents.

Alcohol has continued to be confiscated from underage individuals in this area, and the Designated Public Place Order enforced where individuals have been over the age of 18 but deemed to causing a nuisance, alarm or distress to local residents.

We have ongoing engagement with other agencies, including:- fire brigade, youth services, extended school services and Mansfield District Council anti-social behaviour team in order to look at setting up diversionary activities for the local teenagers to participate in.

    April 2010 Update

The local Beat Team will conduct regular High visibility patrols along the High Street and Clumber Street and surrounding areas.

The beat team will ensure that the Designated Public Place Order is abided by.

Individuals that are repeatedly found in this area causing a nuisance will be asked to sign to an Acceptable Behaviour Contract with a condition not to congregate in this area.

    May 2010 Update

The Safer Neighbourhood Team has increased high visibility foot patrols in this area, including joint foot patrols with the Neighbourhood Wardens.

Operation Animism is ongoing and still paying attention to this area as one of the anti-social behaviour 'hotspots'.

Groups of teenagers have regularly been moved on from this area, where it has been deemed the group could be found intimidating to members of the public or local residents.

Alcohol has been confiscated from a number of underage youths in this area, and the Designated Public Place Order enforced where individuals have been over 18yrs.

We are currently engaging with other agencies, including:- fire brigade, youth services, extended school services and Mansfield District Council anti-social behaviour team in order to look at setting up diversionary activities for the local teenagers to participate in.

    Our Solution
We are continuing with this priority, further updates to follow.

Any individuals identified will receive a section 59 warning notice that states the bike/quad will be seized if they are found committing the same offence again within the next 12 months. If the identified offender has already received a warning then the bike/quad will be seized.

    Our Solution
It has been decided by way of consultation with local community representatives at the local priorities meeting that motorcycle nuisance was no longer a community priority. Though off road motorcycles continue to be a nuisance and we continue to appeal for any information to assist in identifying the perpetrators, other issues concern the local community to a greater degree.
