Neighbourhood Priorities

Through consultation with the members of the public in this neighbourhood we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.

  • Anti Social Driving – Mansfield South Area Show details
To reduce the impact of Anti Social driving on members of the community. To address the issues of young drivers congregating in public locations and then driving vehicles in a careless / Dangerous Manner. To improve Road safety by addressing areas where vehicles are driven in excess of the speed limit or dangerously particularly around schools and in built up areas

    Our Response
    February 2012 update.

One of the main issues that have been raised to us is the concern around the young drivers that have congregated on Mansfield Leisure Park. There have been reports of vehicles wheel spinning and driving erratically which has resulted in many Police calls to the location.

An application was made through our Police Superintendent to Mansfield District council for a dispersal zone. The dispersal zone gives the Police powers to request two or more persons congregating in a certain location to leave the designated area if there is a belief that they are there to commit Anti Social behaviour. If they fail to leave they can be arrested or if they leave and return within 24 hours then they are also liable to arrest.

This is a great tool that the Police can use firstly to remove troublesome individuals from an identified area but also to collate that information so that further restrictions including injunctions can be taken out on persistent offenders.

Mansfield District Council granted the power on 27th February and it will now run for six months. Going into March the dispersal zone will be enforced vigorously to try to reduce opportunities for anti social behaviour as we go into the summer months.

    Our Response

    February update

Over the last month Nottinghamshire Police have been working with partners in order to reduce sheds and outhouses being targeted for thefts.

All victims of burglaries to sheds and outhouses receive a visit from the local Beat team who offer crime prevention advice as well as ensuring all lines of investigation have been completed.

During February the incidents of burglaries to sheds have been relatively low however we are anticipating an increase going into spring. This is a trend that the Beat teams are aware of and are working on plans to reduce opportunities for offenders by educating the public around security.

Any locations that are identified as hotspot locations will have problem solving plans prepared to reduce opportunities for offenders to commit crime.
