Basford and Hyson Green
Completed Neighbourhood Priorities
- Problems with youth nuisance Show details
In August 2008 local residents have complained about the amount of youths that are currently congregating around Craven Road, Birkin Avenue, Hovendon Gardens and at the rear of The Wheeltappers pub. This is occurring in the early to late evening. Drug Dealing was also suspected to be occurring. Using a range of techniques and partnership working, the problem was reduced significantly. In August 2009 Local Residents through meetings have stated that the problem has arisen again.
Our Response
In response to the issue high visibility patrols by the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) will increase to identify offenders. We will use the powers available to us to stop and search as necessary and take all relevant positive action. We will work with partnership agencies to gather intelligence, and identify those responsible. We will monitor calls to the police control room and the Anti Social Behaviour hotline and encourage the community to report incidents. By use of questionnaires we will seek the communities views and advertise a public meeting where residents can come and meet with the NPT and other Partner agencies.
Current Update - June 2010
There wil lbe a Public Meeting on 30th June 2010 to discuss the setting of 3 new priorities for the Basford & Hyson Green Policing Area.
This meeting will be held at 6pm at the Hyson Green Community Centre on Gregory Boulevard and anyone interested is invited to attend.
Again in May the numbers of incidents reported were relatively low indicating that the original issues with ASB and drug dealing has lowered as a priority. There have been 3 reported incidents in the area during May, a burglary, a suspicious incident with two youths trying a door at night and another to do with the use of drugs.
Patrols will continue but consultation will take place over the next few months with residents, to decide if this is still a community issue.
Update - May 2010
There have been 3 reported incidents of ASB in the month of April. Patrols have continued with nothing significant to report. I have spoken to a few residents who have had no real issues. Patrols in the area will continue.
Update - April 2010
Along with regular patrols March has seen us patrolling until 2am on certain days. We have stop searched a number of people who smelt of Cannabis but were not really being rowdy. Calls to the police still remain reasonably low. Is this because residents are not reporting incidents or the numbers of Anti Social problems are dropping? I would like to hear from as many residents as I can to answer this. Remember that you can remain anonymous or if you give details they will be for my purposes only.
The Mobile police station was in the Hovenden Gardens area Monday 29th 5pm until 9.30pm and Wednesday 31st 6.30pm until 9pm with representatives from the NPT in it. A couple of people spoke to us and it was nice to see you but no issues were reported.
Our Solution
The numbers of incidents of ASB in the area has significantly reduced thanks to the increased patrols and the work of partners. - Antisocial Behaviour - Rosetta Road Area Show details
At the beginning of 2009 residents around Rosetta Road have reported to police on a number of occasions groups of young people causing Anti Social Behaviour (ASB) mainly in the evening times on the street usually noise and damage to property and large intimidating groups. They have reported this through telephone calls to the control room and ASB hotline and by speaking to officers on patrol.
It was also noted that the park down the road had been closed an in a state of disrepair.
Our Response
In response to this issue the Neighbourhood Policing Team and the ASB team will increase high visibility patrols to identify the offenders and reassure the community. Partners will be consulted with to assist with reparation of the park and enforcement.
Current Update - June 2010
There will be a public meeting on 30th June 2010 to decide the 3 new Priorities for the Basford & Hyson Green policing Area.
The meeting will be at 6pm at the Hyson Green Community Centre on Gregory Boulevard and anyone interested is invited to attend.
No reports of ASB on either Rosetta Road or Chard Street were received last month. High visibility patrols have however continued in the area. Our partners at Nottingham City Council have relocated one of the litterbins on Chard Street Park however they will not be placed nearer to the seats due to environmental issues. The reinstallation of fencing around the play area is currently being considered.
If any residents in the area are still being affected by ASB, or any other issue, then they are strongly encouraged to contact a member of the NPT or the ASB Helpline on 0115 9152020 so as to allow appropriate action to be taken.
May update
There have been several reports of ASB in the general area of Rosetta Road, and the nearby Chard Street Park, all of which have been resourced. On attendance no persons have been witnessed committing any acts of ASB, though several youths have been advised about playing football in the street. High visibility patrols will be maintained and all reported instances of ASB will continue to be attended and investigated.
If any residents in the area are still being affected by ASB, or any other issue, then they are strongly encouraged to contact a member of the NPT or the ASB Helpline on 0115 9152020 so as to allow appropriate action to be taken.
April update
High visibility patrols have continued in the area and no further reports of ASB on Rosetta Road have been received. However reports of ASB occurring in the vicinity of the nearby Chard Street Park have been received. High visibility patrols are therefore being concentrated more so in that area in order to allow for further investigation. Our partners at Nottingham City Council have been made aware of the need to relocate or move the current litterbins nearer to the seats on the play area. It has also been requested that they consider replacing the fencing around the play area.
If any residents in the area are still being affected by ASB, or any other issue, then they are strongly encouraged to contact a member of the NPT or the ASB Helpline on 0115 9152020 so as to allow appropriate action to be taken.
Our Solution
The number of incidents of ASB reported in the area has reduced almost completely due to increased patrols and work with partners. - Antisocial Behaviour - Bagnall Road Area Show details
Through consultation with the members of the public at the Stockhill Beat Surgery in October 2009 local residents and business brought to light the issue of groups of people causing general anti social behaviour (ASB) in the area on a daily basis. It was agreed that this issue would become a priority for the Stockhill area. The priority will be reviewed in March 2010 at the Stockhill Beat Surgery.
The main area of concern is Bagnall Road shops, Bagnall road junction with Greenwich Avenue, Ladbrooke Crescent leading to Shirebrook Close and Winrow Gardens. This area consists of residential houses and 5 retail outlets. Ellis Guilford School and New Basford College Nottingham are within a 1-mile radius of this area.
The main persons believed responsible for the anti social behaviour is groups of youths 12-16 years old. The alleyway between Winrow Gardens and Ladbrooke Crescent is being used as a shortcut to gain access to Bagnall Road or Stockhill Lane.
There are no specific days of the week when this is a particular problem but it appears to occur between the hours of 5-10pm.
Our Response
As a result of the public meeting the Neighbourhood Policing Team have increased visible patrols in the evenings.
We would urge members of the public to continue to phone police and inform us of any incidents and highlight details of individuals involved if known. Those who are identified will be the subject of parental visits, acceptable behaviour contracts and if appropriate some leading to anti-social behaviour orders being put in place
Current Update - June 2010
There will be a public meeting to discuss the 3 new Priorities for the Basford & Hyson Green Policing Area on the 30th of June.
The meeting will be at 6pm at the Hyson Green Community Centre and anyone interested is invited to attend.
Anti social behaviour incidents have decreased in the area of Bagnall Road and Ladbrooke Crescent. However, the issue of littering has risen again around the Bagnall Road shop area at lunchtime. This issue has been raised at NAT meeting through consultation with Street Scene. As a result the Community Protection team will be going into Ellis Guilford School to instruct students about the consequences of littering.
Update – May 2010
Over the month of April we have had no calls to the Police of anti social behaviour from youths at the local shops or congregating on Ladbrooke Crescent and Shirebrook Close. We have however had 3 incidents of criminal damage to properties two resulting in broken windows and one a car being damaged. We are still patrolling the area especially now the warmer weather is approaching to reduce any further calls of damage and to try to keep the anti social behaviour calls to none.
Update - April 2010
Over the month of March we have had only one call to the Police of anti social behaviour from youths at a local shop. We are still patrolling the area to reduce further calls and so are the ASB team. If any issues are affecting you, please contact us, we need to know.
The Youth Issues Team (YIT) are still working at the school and helping us patrol the area at key times. This, we feel is having an effect on the level of reported incidents and due to the lighter nights and warmer weather will help combat any further issues and provide residents with a visible presence in the area.
Our Solution
There have been no calls to the Police about ASB in the area for a while due to the increased patrols and working closely with residnts and local shopkeepers. - Rowdy/Nuisance Pleasant Court & Pleasant Row Show details
The issues have come to the attention of the NPT after recent complaints from local residents and incidents reported to the police control room and speaking with residents at a meeting on 03/02/2010. The outcome was that over recent years the area has been subject to drug dealing/using, street drinking and ASB including certain address that attract this behaviour. Working with external agencies, the NPT will be completing various community engagements including, LAG meetings and partnership meetings. This is to obtain a bigger picture of the issue by speaking to more of the community.
The main location for the drug dealing/using is Pleasant Court and Pleasant Row. The issue also spreads onto the park next to Asda, Radford Road and St Paul¿s Avenue, which runs parallel with Pleasant Row. The area of Pleasant Court and Pleasant Row is well lit, with Neighbourhood Watch signs put up in the area.
Our Response
Current Update - May 2011
As the weather has improved we have seen an increase in incidents of street drinking in the area we have responded to these and taken the appropriate actions where ever possible. We have increased patrols in the area to deter and gather evidence. Please remember that the area is a designated no drinking zone. If you see people drinking alcohol in a public place around Hyson Green please contact the ASB hotline 0115 9152020 or your local Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.
Finally, we have executed a drugs warrant in the area which had a positive result.
Update - April 2011
Street drinking is becoming more common now the days are getting warmer and longer. Please remember that the area is a designated no drinking zone, action is currently being taken against people who breach this order. If you see people drinking alcohol in a public place around Hyson Green please contact the ASB hotline 0115 9152020 or your local Neighbourhood Policing Team on 101.
Update - March 2011
There have been a few reports that children are causing anti social behaviour in the area. Please make contact with us to discuss any problems that arise. We cannot deal with them if we don't know what they are doing.
Our Solution
Incidents of the ASB that prompted residents to raise this Priority Issue have reduced significantly due to enforcement action by Police and Nottingham City Homes and the removal of problem tenants. This priority has been removed as there have been no reports to the police or ASB hotline.
- Anti Social Behaviour - Heathfield Estate Show details
In the Heathfield Neighbourhood, it has been identified that residents' main concern are groups of teenagers gathering around Tunstall Drive, Harmston Rise and Billesden Drive. The group can consist from to 10 to 20 males that hang around these areas as late as 1.00am and 2.00am. The group’s presence is very intimidating for local residents who are concerned if they have to leave their homes. Members of this group also own their own motor bikes and scooters which are a nuisance as they can be very loud and are sometimes ridden on the pavements.
Our Response
Current Update – January 2012
Anti social behaviour has decreased on Heathfield Estate again. As a result of the week of action, completion of Neighbourhood Priority Surveys, Neighbourhood Watch meetings and decreasing reports of anti social behaviour, we will be reviewing this priority over the following month to decide whether this will remain as the Neighbourhood Policing priority.
Update – December
During November we saw anti social behaviour on Heathfield Estate at very low levels, further the Neighbourhood Police Team along with Partnership Agencies conducted a Week of Action in the area, as a result a number of members of public signed up to Nottinghamshire Neighbourhood Alert. Numerous Neighbourhood surveys were completed in the area, and majority of you stated things had improved and had no issues to report. If you are still being effected by anti social behaviour, please make us aware.
Update - November
The Heathfield estate for the 3 rd month running has reported very few incidents regarding anti social behaviour around the Harmston Rise and/or Tunstall Drive. The Neighbourhood Police Team have letter dropped all the streets that have experienced anti social behaviour with regards bonfire night in the past. We have advised what number’s to call if there are any firework issues in the area and what positive action the police and council partners will take against those who are caught using fireworks in an anti social manner. This seems to have had a positive impact on the Heathfield estate as we have had very few fire incidents reported compared to this time last year.
Our Solution
Anti social behaviour in the area has significantly decreased. We have completed over 250 Neighbourhood Priority Surveys in the Basford area and it has been identified that the area has very much improved. We will continue to complete patrols in the area and if incidents are happening, please make us aware.
