Strelley

Completed Beat Priorities

  • Anti-social Behaviour   Show details
Incidents where a number of youths aged between 13 and 17 are congregating, causing anti-social behaviour, being verbally abusive, causing alarm and distress to local residents and consuming alcohol, most noticeably around Flamstead shops and Strelley Recreation Park.

    Our Response
The Safer Neighbourhood Team will perform regular high visibility foot patrols around key times, and stop check young people believed to be involved in consuming alcohol. Lack of youth provision is being assessed and the Safer Neighbourhood Team are working with partner agencies, and youth workers to improve the services for young people, and give them opportunities to get involved in community initiatives.

    Our Solution
  • Rowdy Nuisance Behaviour   Show details
Rowdy nuisance behaviour on Lancaster Way Park every evening. Youths are regularly gathering in play park at top end of Lancaster way, and creating noise and damage, being abusive to residents and drinking alcohol under age.

    Our Response
High visibility patrols have been carried out most evenings with a view to tackling the key issues. Individuals engaging in this behaviour have been identified and dealt with appropriately.

    Our Solution
Individuals involved were identified and warned regarding the problem behaviour.
Uniform patrols were increased as a preventative measure.
The problematic behaviour has ceased, but we are aware that when the summer months arrive, it is likely to re-occur. For this reason, we have negotiated with relevant departments of the City council, with a view to getting alterations made to the geography of the park, which would help prevent reoccurrences. Although this is no longer a police priority, these measures continue to be taken forward.
  • Drug dealing   Show details
There has been drug dealing taking place in the Moorgreen Estate.

    Our Response
High visibility patrols are being conducted around the area. Intelligence and evidence are being gathered and offenders will be identified and arrested accordingly

    Our Solution
  • Inappropriate parking   Show details
Inappropriate parking by vehicles outside the health centre, which is located on the junction of Moore Road and Strelley road, Nottingham.
The vehicles cause congestion by blocking the passage of busses and other traffic, leading to traffic queuing onto the main carriageway.

    Our Response
Checking of the area at relevant times to identify offending vehicles. Drivers will be advised appropriately and repeat offenders will be prosecuted as appropriate.

    Our Solution
Following an extended period of observations of the area, there has been no significant obstruction of the highway witnessed. Conversations are on going with the Highways Agency but this is no longer a priority requiring police intervention
  • Strelley Week Of Action w/c 26th October 2009   Show details
WEEK OF ACTION BEGINNING 26TH OF OCTOBER 2009

The Crime & Drugs Partnership are co-ordinating a week of action across several local areas.

This will bring Partner agencies together with your Neighbourhood Policing Teams. It is important that you have a say in what issues we tackle during this event, and we respond to what affects you in your area. To have a say use the contact details shown of your NPT officers to let them know what is important to you.

    Our Response
At present the police have already met with several agencies and consulted with residents at the local community meeting on 17th September 2009. Numerous suggestions have been received including improving the appearance of Strelley by removing all litter, targeting speeding motorists and renewing old bus stops, which have not yet been replaced.

Together with these suggestions the police intend to increase patrols, particularly around Flamsteed Road shops during the evenings, improve the service offered to all residents to help reduce burglaries and engage with young people through planned activities.

We will use the opportunity to take advantage of assistance offered by other agencies in resolving many of the issues still being addressed which have been ongoing over the past months and years.

Lastly, the "Friends of Strelley" have made many improvements to local parks and open spaces, notably by Flamsteed Road shops, and are currently planning further planting along many of Strelley's roads. This is being supported by the police and any volunteers who can help with this will be greatly appreciated.

    Our Solution
The week of action was deemed to be as successful as could have been expected.

Over 40 homes in the Moorgreen Estate were issued Smartwater packs. The daffodil planting was a success and the fire brigade attended. Many young children were involved with the latter 2 events which is a credit to them.

The Street Racing event was a success and 37 kids ran in 7 races. There were many other children and parents present on the night. There was no bad behaviour of any sort and the youths who normally congregate outside Flamsteed Road shops left the area as soon as they had arrived. This will be repeated on a larger scale over next year and the intention is to look at introducing as a City Council initiative to reduce anti social behaviour and give children who behave an opportunity to be part of something.
  • Anti-Social Behaviour - Lancaster Way   Show details
Young people are congregating during evenings and causing anti social behaviour on parkland at the end of Lancaster Way. There are also complaints of similar behaviour in the adjacent streets.

The behaviour includes noise, drinking, littering, and riding mini-motos, causing a danger for others intending to use the facilities.

There has been an increase in crime in the area from the end of 2009. This is likely because the same individuals are responsible for the ASB and crime.
