Completed Neighbourhood Priorities

  • DANGEROUS DOGS/DOG FOULING   Show details
Local residents have reported problems on the Lenton Abbey estate with irresponsible dog owners failing to control their dogs whilst out walking. This has been reported during the community meetings and has been reflected in the Neighbourghood Priority Surveys. The feedback from the community is that this is occurring at varying times throughout the day and no particular day is favoured over another. The incidents are occuring on Lenton Abbey Recreational Ground, across the estate and on Highfields Park at the University.

    Our Response
In conjunction with the Nottingham City Council Anti-Social Behaviour Team, the NPT are hoping to introduce a Dog Control Order for the Lenton Abbey area.
The proposed order will require dog owners to maintain proper control over their dogs and keep them on leads whilst walking them on the Lenton Abbey estate.
Anyone not complying with the order would be liable to a fixed penalty notice fine or face prosecution.
Evidence in the form of statements has been obtained and an application is now being submitted to the County Court for their consideration.

NPT staff will also take positive action against dog owners with regards to dog fouling offences.

    Monthly update - December

The Crown Prosecution Service have now authorised charges in relation to the owner of the 2 dogs seized from an address in Lenton Abbey. The owner has been reported for summons and is due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates Court on 31st January 2011.
The dogs will remain in kennels until the court case has been heard.

A decision has yet to be made regarding the proposed dog control order for the area.
The initial application was rejected at an Area Board Meeting of Nottingham City Council.
Amendments have now been made to the application and additional evidence has also been included.
The file has now been re-submitted and is currently with the City Council Legal Department.
If approved at the next Area Board Meeting an application will be made for the proposed order to be heard at Court.

  • ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR   Show details
Groups of males and females are gathering in the alleyway between Holland Street and Mary Potter Health Centre and also in Hubert Street and Acourt Street. They are drinking alcohol, littering and going to the toilet in the street.
From Team meeting, surveys and the community we have identified that the problems occur throughout the week no specific days have come to light, between 16.00hours and 22.00hours.

No Drinking Zone will be enforced through alcohol confiscation, penalty tickets and if necessary further positive action shall take place with arrests.
No drinking signage in various languages will be fixed to posts around the area.
A multi agency operation will be coordinated to tackle street drinking and alcohol related crime.

Should you be affected by Anti Social Behaviour please inform the Neighbourhood Police Team at Canning Circus Police or ring the Anti Social Behaviour Help line on 0115 915 2020.

The Neighbourhood Police Team has been patrolling the hotspots areas but due the recent cold spell no alcohol confiscations have taken place this month.
The priority will continue to be monitored as this is a seasonal problem and positive action will continue where necessary.
Remember if you see any body drinking in a designated no drinking zone please contact the team on the numbers above.

    Our Solution
  • DRUG DEALING   Show details
Drug dealing has been identified as a priority in the following hot spots areas of Alfreton Road, Clifford Street, Hartley Road and Crewe Close Radford Nottingham. This is occuring between 1100-1200 hours and 1700-2000 hours. The weekends have been identified as being the worst days. This issue has been identified by the community as a priority through local community meetings and the Neighbourhood Priority Surveys.

Any information concerning the use or supply of controlled drugs is acted upon and only with assistance from members of the community can Nottinghamshire Police take positive action.

    Our Response
    Monthly Update - December

The Neighbourhood Policing Team for Radford West and Street Offences Team at Canning Circus still continue to tackle this issue through overt and covert patrols. High visibility patrols are conducted on a regular basis by the beat team, particularly around the Alfreton Road corridor incorporating the old KFC site and the associated streets close by. Intelligence continues to be gathered on a weekly basis and is helping to identify issues that in turn are being used to build up a picture of hotspots, possible offenders and suspicious addresses. The staff at Canning Circus are working hard to continually target known offenders and deal with any offences, areas and properties that come to our attention. Disruption to the supply and use of illegal drugs will remain high on the list of priorities for Nottinghamshire Police in 2011.
A drugs 'sweep' of Alfreton Road and surrounding streets took place earlier this month using plain clothes officers and a passive drugs dog. The drugs dog is able to detect if a possession is in or has recently been in possession of controlled drugs allowing officers to detain and search people under the Misuse of Drugs Act. No class 'A' drugs such as heroin and cocaine were located but a number of people were found in possession of cannabis and offensive weapons. Similar operations will be conducted in the New Year.

Any information concerning the use or supply of controlled drugs is acted upon and only with assistance from members of the community can Nottinghamshire Police take positive action.

PLEASE CALL CRIME STOPPERS ON 0800 555 111 IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION or contact the Neighbourhood Police Team at Canning Circus Police Station.
