Lenton Triangle

Back to Canning Circus

The Lenton Triangle boundary runs from Canning Circus Police Station down Derby Road encompassing all the residential properties on the right hand side until you reach Faraday Road, along Faraday Road as far as Ilkeston Road, back up Ilkeston Road again encompassing all the local shops, businesses and residential properties on your right hand side until you reach Canning Circus.

There are two Nurseries, five churches, one mosque, a School of Art and Dance and a Library on the area.

The area has a high proportion of rented accommodation and an extremely large student population. Roughly 30,000 students come to Nottingham to study every year and the Lenton Triangle accommodates more students than any other beat away from the University itself.

There is a substantial Asian community living and working in the area, this includes multicultural shops, Asian food premises, clothing and jewellery stores.

Under the Policing Pledge, this is an urban beat and has a 15 minute emergency response time. For an explanation of what this means click here.

Beat Priorities

Through consultation with the members of the public in this beat we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.

  • Autocrime Show details
The Lenton Triangle beat team have identified Autocrime as a priority due to the increase which we have seen since the turn of the New Year. We seem to be getting the problem amongst the lower streets of the Triangle mainly from Lenton Boulevard down to Faraday Road.

    Our Response
    Update 8th March 2012

The Lenton Triangle beat team are continuing to work hard to decrease the number of thefts from motor vehicles in the area.
Patrols have been heightened and carried out throughout the tour of duties of officers. Anyone who has seen acting suspiciously in the area have been stopped and challenged and if necessary arrested. Intelligence is always submitted with the details of the incidents and the details of the person stopped or arrested. The offenders that the Safer Neighbourhoods Team are looking as possible offenders are still being watched closely for any sign it is them committing these offences.
Car crime literature has been distributed around the target areas included on the letters are some great tips for how not to become a victim of car crime so they are worth a read. Those of you who have a vehicle make sure you have taken any valuables out before you leave it and LOCK IT!!!

If anyone happens to see anyone acting suspiciously in the area then please dont hesitate ringing 999 as we can have officers in the area within minutes. For things you may not think are so urgent feel free to ring our non-emergency number 101. This will put you through to our control room and they will be happy to receive any information you may have. Alternatively ring any of the officers listed below as we are officers making up the Lenton Triangle beat team

Beat Update

26th April 2012

The Lenton Triangle Neighbourhood Policing Team is still working hard to ensure that all crime stays at a minimum on the beat. At this time our main focus is still on Burglary and car crime as it has been for the last few months. High visibility patrols from officers are still at a high in the area to deter any potential offenders. We still need your help to stop these crimes as with a significant percentage of these crimes the property or vehicle have been left insecure therefore giving to offender/s the opportunity to commit the offence. The Police will continue to stop and question anyone acting suspiciously in the area and arrest anyone caught committing an offence.

PLEASE PLAY YOUR PART HELP US HELP YOU!!!

We still ask that you follow the crime prevention steps below as these will always be the best way of not being targeted.

BEFORE LEAVING YOUR HOUSE MAKE SURE THAT ALL WINDOWS AND DOORS ARE LOCKED AND WHERE THEY ARE FITTED ALARMS ARE SET!!

WHEN YOU LEAVE YOUR ROOM, SHUT WINDOWS AND REMOVE VALUABLES OUT OF SIGHT FROM ANYONE IN A POSITION TO SEE WHAT IS IN YOUR PROPERTY!!

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE HOW QUICKLY A BURGLAR CAN GET IN AND OUT OF A PROPERTY GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY!!

TAKE ALL YOUR PROPERTY OUT OF YOUR CAR AND LOCK IT!!

TAKE ALL CRIME PEVENTION GIVEN BY THE POLICE SERIOUSLY!!

The Lenton Triangle Neighbourhood Policing Team are dedicated to working towards reducing the amount of crime throughout the area, With this in mind I would ask anyone seeing any suspicious activity to report it immediately to the Police by calling 999. Your Neighbourhood Policing Team is here to support and help make your community a safe and friendly place for you all to stay whilst in Nottingham.

If you would like information on Smartwater, Lo-Jack, Immobilise or any other crime prevention advice then please contact a member of the team direct, and we will be very happy to assist.
