QMC
The Queens Medical Centre beat is located in the Lenton area of Nottingham and covers both the QMC Hospital campus and the recently opened Nottingham Treatment Centre (NTC), with the main entrance being off Derby Road (A52). There are additional entrances from Leengate and also the Ring Road.
The QMC has one of the busiest Emergency Departments in Europe.
There are approximately 5000 staff which when you add patients and visitors takes the total to over 7000.
In addition to the Beat Manager there are also on site security staff who provide 24 hour cover as well as car parking staff. There is extensive CCTV coverage both inside and outside of the hospital.
Information on how to get to the hospital either by private or public transport can be found by clicking here:
Once on the site a Map of QMC Campus can be downloaded by clicking here to ensure you don't get lost!
Under the Policing Pledge, this is an urban beat and has a 15 minute emergency response time. For an explanation of what this means click here.

Beat Priorities
Through consultation with the members of the public in this beat we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.
- CYCLE THEFTS WITHIN THE QMC & UNIVERSITY Show details
Cycle Theft: There has been an increase in the number of reports of cycles being stolen both at the hospital campus and the adjoining University sites.
Our Response
UPDATE - May/June 2012
The local Policing team have continued to patrol the hotspot locations to deter cycle thefts. The issue still remains a problem on the area.
Officers have identified offenders thanks to Covert and Overt security cameras. The university also have an undercover security team that patrol the area to gather intelligence and apprehend offenders.
Cycle theives are opportunistic, we need you to make life harder for them by buying decent quality D Locks and securing bikes to appropriate cycle racks.
Time and time again we are seeing expensive bikes secured to racks with a cheap cable lock or even no lock at all. Please protect your property!! If your bike is secured properly it is highly unlikely that it will be stolen.

The end of financial year crime figures have been produced and there have been significant reductions in burglary of people's homes in the last twelve months compared to the previous year - 9 fewer offences which is a 30% decrease and car crime has reduced by 19 offences or 51%
Cycle theft continues to be a concern and has been identified and adopted as a Neighbourhood Priority on the QMC site. Taking simple steps can help prevent you suffering the loss of your important means of transport. Good advice is detailed below.
Police continue to respond quickly to and investigate cycle thefts and in recent weeks there have been four arrests of persons stealing cycles at and near to the QMC area. Two have been charged and remanded in custody and the other two released on bail.
BIKE THEFTS.
The facts:
Half a million bikes are stolen in the UK each year. A bike is stolen in the UK every 71 seconds.
60% of the thefts involve bikes being taken from a shed / outbuilding.
Security at home:
Avoid isolated places leave your bike where a potential thief can be seen.
Always keep your bike locked and out of sight- even if its in your garden, preferably in a shed or garage.
Always lock the door to the building where your bike is stored.
Keep a note of the name, model and serial number and if possible take a photograph, in case you need to pass the details to the police.
Remove accessories - whenever you leave your bike unattended.
Security out & about:
Use TWO secure-rated locks for maximum security. Preferably a combination of types such as a heavy duty chain and a good quality hardened steel D-lock. Look for Thatcham or 'Sold Secure' markings on approved locks, or ask for a recommendation at a bike shop.
Make the lock and bike difficult to manoeuvre when parked chain the bike close to its anchor point.
Keep the gap between the bike and lock small to prevent the access for tools.
Avoid isolated places leave your bike where a potential thief can be seen.
Remove accessories whenever you leave your bike unattended.
Remember.
Mark your property:
Use Smartwater or an ultraviolet pen (available for a couple of pounds and can be used many times and by many people) or arrange for it to be postcoded.
