ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR / VAGRANCY THE TUNNEL AREA
In the past two weeks the police have received a number of reports about the activities of vagrants and rough sleepers in and around the Park Tunnel and in the area between the Tunnel and Derby Road. The Park safer neighbourhood team are fully aware of this situation. We have been working closely with community protection officers and officers from the ASB (anti social behaviour) team in an attempt to deal with this problem. Periodic high visibility patrols have taken place and a number of individuals have been identified, stopped, checked, searched and arrests have been made. In addition I have contacted the outreach support team and other support agencies in an attempt to help those sleeping rough and assist them in their current situation. At the height of the problem the Tunnel area contained sleeping bags, empty drinks cans, and a significant amount of debris and litter. Representatives from the Nottingham City Council ‘Street scene’ department are aware of this situation and will clear the area should the problem re-occur. If you are a user of the Tunnel and see anything suspicious or individual(s) sleeping or congregating in this area please let myself, Lauren, Amy or Miltos know.
Alternatively contact the police on the non emergency number – 101 and the council 24 hour ASB HOTLINE on 9152020.

CRIME PREVENTION- VEHICLE CRIME
Protect your vehicle from thieves.
One of the top priorities for the Nottinghamshire Police is the prevention and detection of vehicle related crime. The force is performing well at this time and you can be reassured that
reported incidents in this area have fallen in recent months. To help prevent your vehicle from being targeted by thieves, please review your own security measures. This may well prevent you from becoming the victim of crime:
• Do not leave items on display.
• Remove valuables from your vehicle.
• Wipe away ‘sat nav’ cradle marks from your windscreen.
• Lock your vehicle, the boot and windows.
• Keep serial numbers for electrical items such as CD changers or sat navs, and mark them with your vehicle registration number. This will help the police return items to you if they’re stolen and later recovered.
• If possible- use your garage.
• Fit an immobiliser or alarm. Use a steering lock. Get more information about these devices by calling the Vehicle Security National Helpline on 0870 5502006 or the Sold Secure Helpline on 01327 264687
• Consider buying anti-theft screws for your number plates.
• Attach lockable wheel nuts to help prevent wheels from being stolen
• Have your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) etched on windows, windscreens and headlamps
• Use a secure attended car park, or use one that’s been awarded the Park Mark® status by the British Car Park Association. Find out more at www.saferparking.com
