Beat Update

News - February 2012

Last month we combated rising autocrime offences by performing high visibility patrols throughout city centre car parks, as well as sending out educational leaflets to motorists who have left valuables on display whilst in our multi-storey car parks. Following this, we have reduced our autocrime offences significantly.

Crime figures for January are down 20.2% across all 5 City beats, which is 146 less crimes. The Broadmarsh beat alone has dropped by 40%, equivalent to 62 offences.

We are all waiting for information about the Broadmarsh centre to be released now that it has been acquired by Capitol. Obviously, any changes there will have a great impact of the area and the Beat Team. Hopefully we will know something sooner rather than later.

To further protect your valuables consider protecting property using the smart water and immobilise products we can provide, which are further explained below.

General Information

Crime prevention advice can be obtained from the City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team on our new phone number - 101.
Our extension is 801 5062.

Smartwater
SmartWater is a forensic fluid containing millions of microscopic particles that make up an individual property identification code. This liquid solution can be painted onto household items and leaves a forensic fingerprint encoded with the owner's details and which is virtually impossible to remove.
Please contact your Neighbourhood Team for more details.

Vehicle crime
Could we please take this opportunity to remind members of the public not to leave valuable items on display in their vehicles and to ensure that items such as Satellite Navigation cradles are removed, hidden from view and marks left by them removed from windscreens.

Immobilise
Immobilise is the world's largest FREE register of possession ownership details and with its sister site CheckMEND, the largest database of stolen property and blocked mobile phones.
Immobilise can be used by members of the public and businesses to register their valued possessions or company assets.
