Beat Update

February 2012

The New Year has bought with it new life to an area of the Lace Market Beat, with the completion of the Sneinton Market Place. The Square was completed in the middle of January with the new Leisure complex due for completion in April 2012. There have been some slight problems with Skateboarders on the market place but this will soon be solved when a Byelaw comes into place around March 2012, this Byelaw will then prohibit any Skateboarding on Sneinton Market Place.

Please be more vigilant when walking around the Lace Market Area at night as there have been a number of reports of robberies in the area recently. Please do not walk around with your mobile phone or any money on show. If you are in fear of your safety please call us on 999 and please report any suspicious activity to us 101.

Please remember to keep yourselves and your valuables safe. Don't leave any shopping or valuables on display in your car - put them out of sight in the boot, even if you are only leaving it for a few minutes.

January 2012

We hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

As we all get back in to the swing of normality, we would like to keep you updated on what’s been happening over the festive season on the Lace Market Beat Team.

This time last year we had seen the lowest crime figures since recording began, this was due to the extremely bad weather that we all experienced. However, since then crime has continued to fall. December 2011 and January 2012 have seen crime keep falling and records show that crime is down on this time last year.

Here are some statistics comparing January 2011 and 2012 for the Lace Market Beat Area

Robbery is down 65.2%
Burglary Dwelling is down 59.1%
Fraud and Forgery Offences 32.0%
Drug Offences are down 25.0%
Vehicle Crime is down 16.1%
Criminal Damage is down 9.8%

The Lace Market Beat area has also seen a drop in the amount of incidents of street drinking being reported since the Lace Market Week of Action. Our efforts in the week of action have hopefully helped to minimise some of the regular incidents. If you do see anyone drinking alcohol or causing any Anti-Social behaviour then please report it to us on our non emergency number 101

Please remember to keep yourselves and your valuables safe in the new year. Don't leave any shopping or valuables on display in your car - put them out of sight in the boot, even if you are only leaving it for a few minutes.
