    Our Response
    3/5/11
Recent data confirms that the Mansfield Road area is signiciantly quieter than it has been for the past few months. Patrols are continuing in the area with a view of keeping it that way.

    4/4/11
A high number of calls continue to be made from within the target area but work is ongoing to reduce the problems that are being reported.

    3/3/11
The calls to the area are still higher than we would like and the Police have resisited another licence application in the area.

    4/2/11

Operation Cassiopeia is continuing to deliver reductions in the calls relating to Anti Social Behaviour. All agencies are fully commited to making this area a better place to live, shop and socialize.

    1/1/11
The Police have discussed the issues with partner agencies who will be contributing to activities in the target area.
The Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) based at St Anns Police Station have introduced Operation Cassiopeia. This Operation has introduced extra High Visibility patrol and focussed activities into the target area to deter ASB and associated crime.
The NPT will be working with Trading Standards and Licensing to ensure the licensed premises in the area are complying with their licences and any breaches will be enforced.
The Police will strive to attend incidents of ASB in the target area within 1 hour of the call being made.

    Our Solution
This area has been significantly quieter during the last 6 months and as a result the community feel there is no need for the increased police and agency activity in the area.
  • Drug Dealing/use and Anti-Social Behaviour   Show details
King Edward Park and surrounding streets

Residents have reported drug dealing being conducted at the entrance to King Edward Park at its junction with St Chad’s Road.
In addition, groups of youths have been congregating in the area and committing acts of Anti-Social Behaviour and damage to houses and cars. Local residents have found this to be extremely intimidating. In addition the behaviour of youths on the park itself has been causing problems to other users of the facility.
From information received from the community we do believe there are issues of under-reporting, as there is a fear of reprisals.
The activity takes place predominately between the hours of 8pm and 11pm but can be at any day of the day.
Information gathered from Tenant and Residents groups, Local Councillors and the Neighbourhood Action Officer, together with information from the Police, the Crime & Drugs Partnership and Community Protection support this priority.
As a result this priority has been identified as one of the three for the area. This will be reveiwed at regular intervals through consulatation with all interested parties and residents views play a huge part in this process so we urge you to let us know how we are performing on this priority.

    Our Response
As a result of this area being identified as an area priority, the following actions will take place or have already taken place -

    1. We have altered the patrol plan for the Neighbourhood Police team to ensure the maximum time is spent in this area reassuring the community.
    2. We have tasked other Police Resources to target the park at the key times. This has resulted in the Drugs Offences Team and the Street Team patrolling the area.
    3. We will ensure that we refer youths found to be committing acts of anti-social behaviour in the area to the Youth Service so that diversionary activity can take place. Referrals have already been completed.
    4. We will continue to support the activities of the Youth Service in the park. This includes the football activity set up under the Extended Schools Programme.
    5. We will continue to liase with the City Council’s Environmental Services to ensure the area is made as clean as possible. Needles will be picked up as soon as possible and shrubbery has been cut back around the path leading from Windmill Lane to Spalding Road.
    6. A temporary CCTV column has been installed at the location of St Chads Rd and Spalding Rd. We have ensured that a temporary camera is to be moved to that location and will update you as soon as possible as to when it will be fully operational.
    7. Through liason with the City Council Parks Department we will ensure that access to the car park at the top of St Chads Rd is restricted in the evening through use of a removable post.
    8. We will continue to work closely with the ASB Team to look at civil action that can be taken against youths identified as committing offences within the park area.

    Jan 2010 -

It has been decided to replace this priority due to the low levels of reported anti-social behaviour. The CCTV camera on Spalding Rd is being moved to Belvoir Hill due to issues there. We would urge you to report any issues of concern because without incidents being reported this area will not be a priority area for the neighbourhood.

    December 2010 -

Levels of reported ASB in the park remain low, although there has been recent evidence of drug taking in the park. If you find any drugs paraphernalia in this locality then please call either a member of the Neighbourhood Police Team of the ASB Hotline and we cannarrange to have it removed safely. A local youth was arrested last week on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply, so work continues to target those who have a negative effect on the area.

    Update - November 2010

We have received information that there is drug use and dealing in the park and on the surrounding streets. The Neighbourhood Police Team will be taking action, however please continue to report any suspicious incidents as it will all add to the overall intelligence picture.

    Our Solution
As a result of Partner agency and Police activity under Operation Summer holiday the number of calls to this area have decreased. The residents are happy that the area is a better place to be around.
