There are 3 tower blocks on the beat - Manvers, Bentinck and Kingston Courts. The area is densely populated with a high proportion of Victorian terraces. Beat Update
February 2012
I am please to say that overall crime on the Hermitage Beat is still very low. Last month there were only 3 reported burglaries and only 2 reported thefts from motor vehicles. On both occasions the vehicles number plates were stolen. I would ask that residents be aware that criminals will steal numbers plates from similar looking vehicles so that they can commit crime in vehicles thinking the police can not trace them. If you have your number plates stolen it is imperative that you report the matter to the police before a string of speeding offences drop through your letter box!!
With the cold snap that is happening at the start of the month I would please appeal to residents to look in on their neighbours if they are elderly to make sure they are ok and warm. Unfortunately the elderly are amongst the worse affected by the cold and can succumb to the low temperatures if left unsupported.
January 2012
Happy New Year! As a Neighbourhood Police Team we will be working hard to maintain the work and successes we achieved in 2011. We will aim to be visible and accessible within your community. Keep looking at the Nottinghamshire Police web site for updates on what’s happening within your neighbourhood and how you can access your local police at surgeries, Tenants and Residents meeting and events.
December 2011
"MERRY CHRISTMAS" It's that time of year again when our houses will be stocked full of lovely presents so I would remind residents of basic but effective crime prevention for their houses. If you are going out for the day consider setting lights on a timer or even better the television so that it gives the impression someone is in. If you have a house alarm then remember to set it! Before you leave have a quick check to make sure you have not left any windows or doors open. A large proportion of burglaries occur through insecure windows.
Drink driving and the effects upon individuals and families can be horrific so i urge you to drink responsibly and either walk, car share or use public transport to get around after that office party or night out in town. Nottinghamshire Police will be running a Drink Drive campaign this year so there will be scores of additional officers on the streets targeting irresponsible drivers.
November 2011
November the 5th is historically a time when the police receive a high number of calls relating to fireworks and associated nuisance. This places a huge demand on police resources which in turn delays officers attending real emergencies. Can I urge residents in Sneinton to use fireworks responsibly and also considerately. A lot of complaints are regarding people letting off fireworks in the street (which is an offence) or letting fireworks off at unsociable hours. The Police advise that residents attend local displays which are safer, cheaper and generally better quality. If you have any specific information about individuals selling or letting fire works off in the street please contact us on 101.
October 2011
The Neighbourhood Police Team at Sneinton has collectively stopped 62 separate individuals within the vicinity of Colwick Park as part of Operation Alma Mater. These individuals were behaving in such a way as to give officers concern that they were in the park for anti social reasons.
These figures show that there is still a necessity to continue the proactive patrol of the area and continue to provide a visible reassurance for residents using the park.
