Meet the Neighbourhood Policing
Team Inspector

Insp Craig Berry

Inspector Craig Berry

There are two Neighbourhood Policing Teams which serve the north and south areas of Broxtowe Borough.

The Northern team is based at Eastwood and Kimberley and supervised by the experienced Sergeant Andy Browning who has been based at Eastwood for a number of years and has a good understanding of the local area.

The Southern team is based at Beeston and Stapleford and supervised by Sergeant Steve Robinson who has 16 years of experience as a police officer.

Broxtowe Borough police officers are working hard each day to reduce crime and where there is offending we are investigating and bringing offenders to justice efficiently and effectively.

Each police beat area has a dedicated Beat manager and Police Community Support Officer who patrol the area you live and work, and who are there to deal with the issues that concern you.

These officers want to help, and need to know about crime or anti-social behaviour that affects you or those around you. Our team aims to solve problems, including working with other support services to achieve this.

Where you raise concerns, we will take postive action and keep you regularly updated with progress. This is great place to live and work and it is your right to feel safe in your home and neighbourhood, and to receive a professional policing service.

In addition to our day-to-day policing role we will periodically run targeted weeks of action, focusing on enforcement, prevention of crime and multi-agency action.

I have made it very clear our policing priority for Broxtowe is to continue to reduce burglary and vehicle crime. We will act quickly and do everything possible to catch those who break into homes and vehicles. However, we also need to work together and at present over a third of all victims of burglary have left a door and or window open on the ground floor, allowing the burglar to walk in.

There is also an increase in car key burglaries where keys left in obvious places have been taken and are then used to steal a car outside. Improving your home security by locking your windows and doors with good standard locks and keeping keys and valuables out of sight will reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim.

I welcome the support of local people and would like to get you involved in the policing of the Broxtowe Borough. You can be involved in a number of ways including helping to decide our priorities. I am also looking for volunteers who know the area and communities and want to help out a few hours a week and be part of our policing team. There are many volunteer roles and activities that you may find interesting and rewarding.

I would like to promote the new Neighbourhood Alert system as a means by which your local police can communicate important messages and information regarding crime issues. Please register and log on to www.broxtowecommunity.co.uk  a few times each week for crime information and advice relevant to you.

I have been police officer for fifteen years and in my career to date I have served predominently in responding to emergencies and neighbourhood policing. I have been based in and around the city, working at Central, Broxtowe and Radford Road and was promoted to Sergeant in 2004 and then Inspector in 2009.

In 2003/04 I took the opportunity to gain experience working abroad where I worked as a police officer in the Bermuda Police Service in the capital Hamilton. In addition to this experience in early 2009 I was seconded to the Nottingham City Crime and Drugs Partnership (CDP) to coordinate parnership working to reduce violent crime.

In August 2009 I was posted as Custody Inspector covering custody suites on the south of the county. Finally in July this year I was took up the post as Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Broxtowe Borough based at Beeston and Eastwood.  I look forward to meeting the needs of this Borough serving this community.
