Neighbourhood Priorities

Through consultation with the members of the public in this neighbourhood we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.

  • Antisocial behaviour Show details
Brinsley, Recreation Ground Chip Shop Moor Road and Cordy Lane

Nights that have been identified by local resident are Friday and Saturday between the times of 5pm and 12pm. Antisocial behaviour took various guises from youths drinking on the park, noise/disturbances, this has been around a wooded seating area that has been installed recently.

    Awsworth, Lawrence Avenue

Local residents have highlighted that between 5pm hours and 8pm hours on weekdays young persons, between the ages of 13 and 16 gathering in large numbers on Lawrence Avenue, particularly outside the Balti Club takeaway and Bonners Lane Awsworth. They are being noisy and when challenged by local residents are being abusive.

    Greasley, Dovecote Road

Residents have raised concerns about the high volume of young people gathering behind the parish hall/sports centre, in and around Beauvale Park, Dovecote Road and Dunster Road, Newthorpe. Young persons, mostly males between 13 and 16 years of age have been drinking and smoking, causing noise and harassing local residents. Criminal damage has also been caused to vehicles and buildings in nearby streets. This has been mainly on a Friday and Saturday night between the time of 6pm and 12pm.

    Our Response
Every Friday and Saturday night we conduct high profile patrols using Beat Officers, PCSOs and Special Constables.

These officers will pay attention to the locations taking positive action against anyone who is disturbing the peace.

Any young person found under the influence will be taken home and their parents spoken to.

Persistent troublemakers will be asked to enter into an anti social behavioural contract with us and the Council's Antisocial Behaviour Officers to improve their conduct.

Weekdays will become part of the re-active shift patrol plan giving a high visibility presence.

We with closely monitor licensed premises with our partners within the Council Licensing Department and Trading Standards.

Any breaches of law with be dealt with. We with also conduct ‘test purchases’ to ensure compliance.

We will also talk with Youth Services to ensure there are diversionary activities for young people taking place.

Officers will make use of their Section 27 powers to disperse any antisocial behaviour/alcohol related nuisance. This bans youths from a specific area for up to 24 hours.
  • Speeding vehicles Show details
    Two locations were identified:

Brinsley, Church Lane & Cordy Lane

Eastwood Nottingham, Lynncroft & Walker Street

    Our Response
The majority of times problems occur are during the early mornings but they can persist throughout the day.

Beat officers will use the handheld speed camera to identify offending vehicles. We with advise motorists, caution or prosecute them depending on each individual circumstance.

Persistent offenders with be repeatedly targeted.

Local residents will be asked if they would like to set up a community speedwatch to help us to identify the persistent offenders and more effectively target them.

We will regularly liaise with the Force Speed Enforcement Team to see if we meet the criteria for their attendance and action.

Police and Highways Department to research and if appropriate implement traffic calming methods.
  • Fear of Crime Show details
By collecting information from residents of the Northern Cluster, they readily identified that the fear of being a victim of crime out-weighed the reality of actually having a crime occur against them. This was demonstrated in areas such as serious aquisitive crime. It is therefore the priority of the local police and partners to attempt to tackle to concerns of the community and report back the reality of life in the Northern Cluster for crime and ASB.

    Our Response
As a result of this priority positive information in relation to crime reductions and detection of offences in the Northern Cluster has been fed back to the KINS and Councillors for the area. In addition media releases are being made as to the actions of the police and the updating of activity in the Northern Cluster.

The continuation of high visibility policing enabling the public to have their say to officers whilst a frank and open message in relation to criminality can be passed on.

Strong offender management and pro-active policing against criminal offences is and remains to be the directive for this area.
