Attenborough is a small village that is located between Beeston and Long Eaton. The village is accessed via the A6005 by using Attenborough Lane, Barratt Lane and Long Lane.
The Attenborough Beat area covers the area to the south of the A6005 between the junctions of High Road, Toton & Charlton Grove.
Within the Attenborough area there are numerous green field locations, which have both wooded and grassed areas. The largest of these is Attenborough nature reserve, which is accessed via Barton Lane. The nature reserve has a recently constructed visitor’s centre. The area also has a large golf course and a leisure centre, which are both accessed via the A6005.
On the outskirts of Attenborough, there is a large retail park with a number of different retail outlets and also a popular hotel, which contains leisure facilities.
Within the village itself there is a train station, which is well used due to the services to Nottingham. There are a small number of shops on Attenborough Lane, a village hall where different events and groups are held, a tennis club and a cricket club located within the village.
Under the Policing Pledge, this is an urban beat and has a 15 minute emergency response time. For an explanation of what this means click here.

Beat Update
MAY 2012 CRIME UPDATE
During April 2012 a total of 5 crimes were reported to the Police for the Attenborough beat.
The crimes that were reported during April 2012 were:
Theft from motor vehicle - 2
Theft - 3
DWELLING BURGLARY
When a burglary is reported to the Police the Local Beat Team deliver a crime prevention leaflet to every house on the street where the burglary has occurred. The reasons for this are:
1. To appeal for witnesses to anything suspicious
2. To ensure that residents consider their own security measures to prevent further incidents.
If you have any information about who might be committing burglaries, or about any other criminal activity, you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Please continue to lock your doors and windows when you are not at home and ensure that your house alarm is set. If you do not have a house alarm please consider installing one as this is a useful deterrent.
Also ensure that keys to your vehicles are placed in a secure location within your house. Do not leave them on a key hook by the front door or on a table in the hallway. Ideally, place them somewhere that is not obvious. The same is true for your house keys. Please place these in a location that is not obvious but where all members of the household know where to find them in case of an emergency.
THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE
The Local Beat Team will also deliver crime prevention leaflets to every house should an autocrime offence occur on the street.
Please remember to remove all items of value from your vehicle. Remove the Satellite Navigation System and the holder and get into the habit of wiping the windscreen where the holder has been. Removing items from your vehicle reduces the temptation for someone to break into your vehicle. Even items like re-usable shopping bags should be removed. Any item that is left in the vehicle can tempt an offender to break in to see what is inside.
NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH
The Local Beat Team is actively seeking volunteers to set up a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme on their street. The intention is to have a scheme running on every street in the Neighbourhood. Neighbourhood Watch is a vital link between the Community and the Local Beat Team and we are committed in trying to expand this.
The Local Beat Team can provide you with information about Neighbourhood. In some instances you can get a discount from your Home Insurance Company by being in a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme.
If you are interested in Neighbourhood Watch and would like to set up a scheme then please contact a member of the Local Beat Team.
NEIGHBOURHOOD ALERT
Nottinghamshire Alert is a messaging system that allows Nottinghamshire Police, Neighbourhood Watch and other public organisations to send you messages concerning community safety and crime quickly and efficiently.
Alerts are predominantly sent by email, but you can change your preferences when you register to receive Alerts by text or voicemail.
The purpose of the system is to keep you informed about crime in your area and enable you to have a say and influence local policing.
The system is designed to ensure registered users can choose what information they receive, how often, who from and in a format they want.
Our aim is to enable reductions in crime and disorder by facilitating effective communication between people who live and work in Nottinghamshire, Nottinghamshire Police and Neighbourhood Watch.

SPEED CHECKS
The Local Beat Team and Specials regularly conduct speed enforcement checks in the area at various times of the day without prior notification. Please be aware of, and stick to, the speed limit.
Any vehicle exceeding the speed limit will be stopped and the driver issued with a Fixed Penalty Notice if appropriate.
ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
The Local Beat Team conduct patrols around the area in order to ensure that Anti Social Behaviour is kept to a minimum. The focus of these patrols is generally identified using the results of the Neighbourhood Priority Surveys (see below). If any resident is experiencing Anti Social Behaviour then please contact the Local Beat Team with details.
NEIGHBOURHOOD PRIORITY SURVEYS (NPS)
The NPS are now available online and can be accessed by Clicking Here
Please complete the NPS on a regular basis. The purpose of the survey is to enable us to identify local issues. They also provide you with an opportunity to make suggestions of ways in which we might tackle the issues.
Every three months we analyse the results of the surveys and set three priorities. YOUR priorities are OUR priorities. These priorities are updated to the website following agreement with community representatives. Progress updates are added regularly too so add a bookmark to this site.
If you require any of the surveys either for yourself, or to distribute to your friends, neighbours, or social activity groups please make contact with us either by email, phone or text, or visit your local Police Station and we will be happy to provide you with as many as you require.
Finally, the Local Beat Team would like to remind all residents to report any problems or incidents to the Police in order that we can be aware and tackle the problem. Please remember the non-emergency number is 101 or you can call Crimestoppers on the number above.
