Beat Officers
Beat Priorities
Through consultation with the members of the public in this beat we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.
- Burglary Show details
Following the neighbourhood priority surveys (NPS) that have been carried out in the cluster over the past 3 months it has been identified that burglary is now a priority for the local communities. It was then decided at the 12th January 2010 PACT (Police and Community Together) meeting that this shall replace anti social behaviour as the new neighbourhood priority. There have been no specific areas or times for burglary identified from the surveys, it is a priority that has been raised from all areas of the cluster.
Our Response
Local beat Officers will use crime pattern analysis to analyse where the burglaries are occurring and target these areas to identify the offenders and also any potential properties at risk. We are always available for you to contact using the contact details given on the website, for crime reduction advice. If there has been a burglary in the local area then the local beat teams will be out target hardening the surrounding addresses and raising awareness in the area to prevent further burglaries. Following a burglary the victim will receive a follow up visit from their local beat team. The local beat teams will also be working in partnership with the crime prevention manager for Broxtowe South, Neil Thacker to try and make vulnerable properties more secure. This will include the use of the Acorn. This is a scheme which is designed to provide security measures that includes door and window locks for vulnerable people. The Police also work closely with Broxtowe Borough Council and attend regular meetings with them to discuss issues of concern within Broxtowe South and areas where the partners can assist. Volunteers from within the force have worked closely with members of the beat team to deliver crime prevention advice leaflets to those streets on the beat that are most vulnerable to burglary. Members of the cluster have worked night shifts in order to provide high profile re-assurance patrols in those areas that have been targeted by burglars. PC Lee Kirk and PCSO Chris Archer were on hand at the Crime Prevention day held in Stapleford Town Centre on May 8th 2010 to give residents advice on all manner of home security.
- Speeding Show details
Results of the neighbourhood priority surveys (NPS) that were returned show that speeding traffic is still a priority. The PACT (Police and Communities Together) meeting held on 8th April 2010 agreed that speeding traffic for the cluster would remain a priority and that several locations for each beat within the cluster would be identified. The following are the locations agreed at the June 2009 PACT meeting, which will remain areas of focus. Each beat within the cluster has had a location identified and this was based on the results of the NPS that were returned. Thorseby Road, Town Street, A52 (Bramcote) Ilkeston Road, Hickings Lane, Moorbridge Lane, Pasture Road, (Stapleford North), Ilkeston Road, Stapleford Road (Trowell). This occurs at all times of day.
Our Response
The local beat team officers and Special Constables have been carrying out high visibility speed checks over the months of April and May, as a result of these checks vehicles were stopped and either advised, reported for summons or given a fixed penalty notice. This will continue over the coming months. As a result of partnership work with the county council an interactive speed sign has been erected on Hickings Lane, Stapleford.
- Anti Social Behaviour Show details
As a result of surveys completed by members of the local community the PACT Meeting (Police and Community Together) held on 08/04/2010 agreed that ASB would be a priority and that several locations for each beat within the cluster would be identified. The following are the locations agreed at the April 2010 PACT meeting. Each beat within the cluster has had a location identified and this was based on the results of the neighbourhood priority surveys (NPS) that were returned by the local community. Derby Road Stapleford, Alexandra Street Stapleford (Stapleford South West) Montrose Court (Stapleford North) Eastcote Avenue and Park area (Bramcote) Hickings Lane and Park (Stapleford South East)
Our Response
Local beat team to continue high visibility patrols in highlighted areas promoting public reassurance. Local beat team to liase with Broxtowe Borough Council (ASB officer) to accumulate names of prolific offenders whom are continuing to cause ASB issues within their community. This will be utilising the AIMS project. Local beat team to utilise Neighbourhood Watch ensuring they have been given Diary sheets to record ASB in their particular area and to promote and increase Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators in problem areas. The local beat team have held and will continue to hold Youth Surgeries at Hickings Lane Park in order to give younger persons a chance to speak with local officers and put their viewpoints across. In response to motorcycle nuisance at Hickings Lane Park patrols of this area have being conducted using the times given by members of the public to focus patrols.
