May 2010 Update:

High Visibility patrols by the Stapleford local beat team have been conducted in and around Derby Road, Alexandra Street and Antil Street Stapleford promoting public reassurance. Names of young persons causing anti social behaviour have been taken and submitted accordingly to our intelligence systems and have been fed through to the AIMS project. In May 2010 there have been four letters sent out to identified young persons causing ASB in the Stapleford area. These persons will be monitored closely over the next coming weeks.

Stapleford local beat team have arranged in partnership with Broxtowe Borough Council, ‘Community Pay Back’ scheme to visit Antil Street Stapleford and help an area whereby reports of Anti social behaviour has caused alarm and distress to local residents. This scheme targets areas that are in need of rejuvenation by means of simply clearing an area of overgrown weeds, to removing graffitti from brick walls. This will be taking place at the end of May beginning of June improving our local surroundings and hopefully boosting the community spirit.

Stapleford local beat team in partnership with Fire and Rescue Service held a Communtiy Safety day on the 8th May 2010 promoting burglary prevention advice including smart water and a number of neighbourhood priority surveys were completed. Further joint partnership days have been arranged for the 24th July 2010 being held at Stapleford Fire Station. Please speak to local officers for further information.

Some final points to help prevent crime in your local neighbourhood:

Burglary - please ensure that doors and windows are closed and locked when nobody is at home (particularly at night and when absent). Keep garden tools such as spades locked up at night as they can be used to force entry into homes. If you have car keys, then take them to bed with you. Please do not leave them unattended and on view.

Speeding - Please help us to help you by keeping to designated speed limits on all public highways in Stapleford. Speeding is currently a priority in the Stapleford South West area, therefore regular speed checks will be conducted. Persons caught speeding will be issued with a £60 fine and 3 points on their driving licence. Persons speeding excessively over the designated limit will be dealt with according to current legislation. Let’s make Stapleford a safer place and reduce our speed.

Anti-social behaviour - Parents must take responsibility for the behaviour of their children by making themselves aware of where their children are at night. Parents and children need to be educated with regard to the negative impact large groups of young people have on the community in which they live. Parents should be satisfied that their children are not inappropriately congregating in large groups especially where there is underage drinking taking place.
