Beat Update
The neighbourhood priorities were agreed on the 08th April 2010 as burglary, speeding traffic and anti social behaviour. The local beat team will continue to take action on these priorities.
May 2010 Update:
High Visibility patrols by the Stapleford local beat team have been conducted in and around Derby Road, Alexandra Street and Antil Street Stapleford promoting public reassurance. Names of young persons causing anti social behaviour have been taken and submitted accordingly to our intelligence systems and have been fed through to the AIMS project. In May 2010 there have been four letters sent out to identified young persons causing ASB in the Stapleford area. These persons will be monitored closely over the next coming weeks.
Stapleford local beat team have arranged in partnership with Broxtowe Borough Council, ‘Community Pay Back’ scheme to visit Antil Street Stapleford and help an area whereby reports of Anti social behaviour has caused alarm and distress to local residents. This scheme targets areas that are in need of rejuvenation by means of simply clearing an area of overgrown weeds, to removing graffitti from brick walls. This will be taking place at the end of May beginning of June improving our local surroundings and hopefully boosting the community spirit.
Stapleford local beat team in partnership with Fire and Rescue Service held a Communtiy Safety day on the 8th May 2010 promoting burglary prevention advice including smart water and a number of neighbourhood priority surveys were completed. Further joint partnership days have been arranged for the 24th July 2010 being held at Stapleford Fire Station. Please speak to local officers for further information.
Operation Arrow is currently underway throughout the force. Increased patrols of Police officers and Student officers have been introduced in Stapleford area week commencing 17th May 2010. These officers are target hardening areas of where burglaries have been reported. Leaflets have been posted in over 300 houses in the Stapleford area to raise awareness of burglaries. To find out more about Operation Arrow please contact a member of your local beat team or go to the Notts Police website.
PCSO’S from Stapleford volunteered to conduct a week of night shifts in May 2010 focusing on burglary hot spots to identify potential offenders out and about in the Stapleford area. Throughout that week no burglaries occurred in the Stapleford area leading to a positive outcome. Further patrols will be continued during the coming months.
Can we advise that all out buildings including sheds and garages are being appropriately secured using good quality locks and alarms. Please ensure that security lighting, if available, is working correctly and that all side gates to properties are secured.
The local beat team would like to remind all residents to report any problems or incidents to the Police, so that we are aware of any issues. There is a new non emergency number for Nottinghamshire Police, please use this number when making future calls:
0300 300 99 99.
If a crime is in progress call 999.
If you would like any crime prevention advice, then please contact your local beat team, so we can organise a visit by one of our Crime Reduction Managers.
Some final points to help prevent crime in your local neighbourhood:
Burglary - please ensure that doors and windows are closed and locked when nobody is at home (particularly at night and when absent). Keep garden tools such as spades locked up at night as they can be used to force entry into homes. If you have car keys, then take them to bed with you. Please do not leave them unattended and on view.
Speeding - Please help us to help you by keeping to designated speed limits on all public highways in Stapleford. Speeding is currently a priority in the Stapleford South West area, therefore regular speed checks will be conducted. Persons caught speeding will be issued with a £60 fine and 3 points on their driving licence. Persons speeding excessively over the designated limit will be dealt with according to current legislation. Let’s make Stapleford a safer place and reduce our speed.
Anti-social behaviour - Parents must take responsibility for the behaviour of their children by making themselves aware of where their children are at night. Parents and children need to be educated with regard to the negative impact large groups of young people have on the community in which they live. Parents should be satisfied that their children are not inappropriately congregating in large groups especially where there is underage drinking taking place.
