Neighbourhood Priorities

Through consultation with the members of the public in this neighbourhood we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.

  • Speeding Vehicles/Nuisance Parking Show details
As a result of the Neighborhood Priority Setting Meeting held on 11th April 2012, this priority was highlighted as being of concern and work will be carried out on it for the next three months in order to reduce the amount of offending vehicles both for speeding and parking offences.

There is a huge concern about the parking outside of all the schools on both Bonington and Daybrook at the start and finish of the school day. Speeding is an issue across the area, but has been mainly highlighted on Muirfield Road, Mansfield Road, Woodchurch Road, Queens Bower Road and Sherbrook Road.

    Our Response
Parking: The ‘No Parking’ yellow zig - zag lines outside schools are not enforceable by police officers, PCSO’s or For police officers & PCSO’s, there does however exist the offence of Unnecessary Obstruction of the Highway – Fixed Penalty offence, which will be enforced if necessary.
There is growing political pressure to introduce ‘Safer Routes to School’ programmes, which invariably include further parking and speeding restrictions, and are often accompanied by traffic calming measures.
We are also working with the school to see if there is anything we can do together to help prevent parking issues.

Speeding: Over the last week all beat managers have been trained on the mobile speed gun allowing them to conduct speed checks in all of the effected area’s. Vehicle travelling at excessive speeds will then be stopped and may be issued fixed penalty notices. PCSO’s will also be conducting high visibility patrols in certain areas to reduce speeding traffic.

This priority will be reassessed at the next public Priority Setting Meeting at 6:30pm on the 16th July 2012 at The Civic Centre, Gedling Borough Council.

  • Anti Social Behaviour Show details
As a result of the Neighborhood Priority Setting Meeting held on 11th April 2012, this priority was highlighted as being of concern and work will be carried out on it for the next three months in order to reduce Anti Social Behaviour

Anti Social Behaviour continues to be a priority across the whole division. The main areas highlighted for this on the Bonington Ward are Stanhope Crescent, Bewcastle Road, Wearmouth Gardens and Augustine Gardens. On the Daybrook Ward, the only street highlighted is Sherbrook Road.

    Our Response
Anti social behaviour will be acted upon when appropriate and stop checks in the area will continue to be carried out. High visible patrols have been taking place in Top Valley and these patrols will continue. The local Neighbourhood wardens are also aware and will continue to do mobile patrols around the area.
We will work in partnership with Gedling Borough Council and issue 'Acceptable Behaviour Contracts' where possible.

This priority will be reassessed at the next public Priority Setting Meeting at 11am on the 18th July 2012 at The Civic Centre, Gedling Borough Council.
  • Burglary - Sheds/Garages/Outbuildings Show details
As a result of the Neighborhood Priority Setting Meeting held on 11th April 2012, this priority was highlighted as being of concern and work will be carried out on it for the next three months in order to prevent and detect offences of burglary.

Unfortunately there has been a increase in shed and garage burglaries during March in the Rise Park area of the Bonington Beat and the Oxclose Lane area of the Daybrook beat.

    Our Response
We will be conducting more high visibility patrols in the area, but please ensure that you secure your sheds/outbuildings and where possible, attach an alarm to them and locks if possible.
Around the house - Use timer switches to leave lamps on and consider leaving a radio/music on in the property when the house is unoccupied.
The Beat Team have been delivering leaflets alerting residents to this problem and will continue to do so over the next few weeks.

This priority will be reassessed at the next public Priority Setting Meeting at 11am on the 18th July 2012 at The Civic Centre, Gedling Borough Council.
