Gedling
The Gedling Ward area is geographically situated between the Gedling Phoenix Estate on one side and the village of Lambley on the other. The A6211 Arnold Lane, the B684 Plains Road and the A612 Colwick Loop Road border the area.
The beat has a large playing field situated off Lambley Lane that leads onto the former site of the Gedling Colliery. Dog walkers and naturalists regularly use the old pit site. The site is fast becoming a thriving nature reserve in its own right.
At the centre of this community stands the Gedling All Hallows Church. The church is a focal point for the whole community and a number of events can be found taking place at this location throughout the year. The Memorial Hall in Gedling is home to a large number of local groups, which include a locally owned and run dance school for children through to teenagers.
The local primary school is Willow Farm on Willow Lane at Gedling, and the catchment senior school is Carlton Le Willows on Wood Lane at Gedling. There are two public houses situated within the confines of the village.
On Conway Road there is a council run bowling green, tennis court and a small grassed area.
Under the Policing Pledge, this is an urban beat and has a 15 minute emergency response time. For an explanation of what this means click here.

NEIGHBOURHOOD UPDATE (Updated 3rd May 2012)
Monthly Update
Over the past month we have had the following offences reported.
We have had one attempted burglary at a house on Orlando Drive, the offenders were disturbed by a neighbour and they made off empty handed. Officers were quickly to the area but the offenders had made good their escape.
We have had three reports of damage to motor vehicles 2 happened on Vernon Avenue and the third was on Ulswater Close, all the offences happened overnight with no suspects being seen.
A bench has been stolen from Coronation Walk.
We have also had three pedal cycles stolen from the area, these cycles were at the rear of houses and it appears to be the work of our Scrap Metal Collectors. These thefts have occurred on Saint Austin’s Drive and Orlando Drive.
We have also arrested a prolific shop lifter who was responsible for a number of thefts from our local supermarkets.
Over the past 3 weekends the Safer Neighbourhoods Team have been taking action with regard to the growing issue of Anti Social Behaviour , this has been taking place on Willow Park and Lambley Lane . This problem is during the evenings and all the local schools have been approached and pupils spoken to. We will be taking further positive action over the next few weeks to resolve these issues.
The Safer Neighbourhoods Team are also aware of the opening up of the old Mineral Line that runs from Netherfield to the Old Colliery Site , unfortunately we have had instances of stone throwing from the old line onto the roads and this has resulted in damage being caused to a car on Willow Lane whilst it was being driven. We are hopeful that this is not the start of things to come and Network rail are being spoken to about this at present. Hopefully the footpath will be used more and this may well prevent further problems.
Please be aware that the NEW NON EMERGENCY NUMBER for the Police is now 101or if you wish use CRIMESTOPPERS anonymously on 080055511.
Please come along to our beat surgeries and patch walks and watch out for more of our updates for what’s happening in your area. A list of our Surgery dates can be found on the website and also on the posters in the Gedling area.
