NEIGHBOURHOOD UPDATE (Updated 1st MAY 2012)
The Safer Neighbourhood Priority Setting meeting was held on 16th April and as a result the current priorities for Porchester Ward are Anti Social Behaviour, Dog Fowling and speeding/parking issues. These priorities were set as a result of surveys conducted with local residents.
Specific areas that are being targeted in relation to Anti Social behaviour include Bennett Road, Whittingham Road, Dean Avenue, Westmore Court and Close, College Road, Digby Park and Mapperley Golf Course. To date increased patrols have taken place at all of these locations. Nine stop searches have taken place during April at The shelter Digby Park which is often used by local youths to smoke Cannabis.
In response to complaints of dog fouling a joint letter drop with Gedling Borough Council has taken place on Fernleigh Avenue and Roseleigh Avenue.
Speed checks have been conducted on Moore Road, Kenrick Road and Digby Avenue with more planned for the future. The safer neighbourhood team have all recently been trained on the use of the speed gun so more proactive speed monitoring can be undertaken.
ARRESTS/INCIDENTS OF INTEREST
There have been three dwelling burglaries this month which is an improvement on the six reported last month.
In April a male was charged with causing criminal damage to a property at Westmore Close.
In the early hours of Friday 20th April a street Robbery took place on the steps that run from Hillview Road and Simkin Avenue. Three males approached a member of the public, threatened him with a knife and stole a watch and wallet. If you have any information in relation to this crime please ring 101 or CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111. Your call will be treated in confidence.
Speed checks have been conducted at Moore Road, Kenrick Road and Digby Avenue. The average speeds were as follows: Moore Road 19MPH, Kenrick Road, 28MPH and Digby Avenue 28MPH. Motorists found committing speed offences will be dealt with by way of verbal warning, fixed penalty or report for summons. If you are concerned about speeding where you live please contact myself or PCSO 7546 Rowan HUGGETT.
Once again the beat team as a cluster have been busy conducting a number of drugs warrants all over the Gedling area. This has produced a number of arrests and seizures of Cannabis. These warrants take place very often as a result of CRIMESTOPPERS information. Please continue to pass information on criminal activity to CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800555111 your call will be treated in confidence.
