  • Local Beat Priority - SPEEDING   Show details
    A Neighbourhood Priority Setting Meeting took place to discuss local policing for the next three months. This meeting consisted of members of the community such as neighbourhood watch members, parish councillors, local residents and business people.
    A review of the previous three months work in relation to speeding was given and also the results of the surveys completed in the Bingham beat areas in the ensuing period.
    Although the local community identified speeding as an issue, it was agreed by the members of the meeting to set it as a beat priority instead of a neighbourhood priority. Therefore, the local beat team and community speed watch for each area will manage it and we can be utilised in more locations across the beat.
    The current locations identified by the local community are as follows:-

    * Grantham Road, Bingham
    * Nottingham Road, Bingham

    Main offending times are during the evening although there are no specific time periods.

    Our Response
    Officers using speed detection devices will attend the locations highlighted, along with other locations, at the relevant times and, where appropriate, issue tickets to offending drivers. We continue to work alongside the Community Speedwatch and liaison will take place with them on a regular basis, along with articles placed in newsletters and magazines, highlighting the priority.
    The Community Speedwatch teams are also going to liaise with each other with a view to co-ordinated activity taking place.
