Completed Beat Priorities
- Speeding vehicles Show details
Neighbourhood Policing Surveys were completed with a cross section of the local community between July and October 2009.
On 29/10/2009 a Priority Setting Meeting was held and using the information available it was decided that speeding motor vehicles in Aslockton, Whatton and Scarrington would be a priority for local Policing for the next three months to be reassessed at a further meeting in January 2010.
In Aslockton, speeding was cause for concern on Cliffhill Lane and Abbey Lane between the hours of 8am to 9am and 4.30pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
In Whatton, the Old Grantham Road was highlighted as the major road for concern between the hours of 8am to 9am and 4.30pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday.
Our Response
The response to the priority highlighted is that officers using speed detection devices will attend the area to monitor vehicles at appropriate times and where appropriate issue fixed penalty tickets. Liaison will also take place with local community speedwatch.
Local village newsletters/magazines will be used to raise the profile of the priority in a bid to educate the community.

- Theft of Scrap metal Show details
Due partly to the rising price of metal, there has been a spike in the number of reported metal thefts in the Manvers and Trent wards. Following the collation of neighbourhood policing surveys and discussion with the Local Area Group meeting it has been decided that theft of metal should be a local policing priority.
Our Response
The Safer Neighbourhoods team will be carrying out random spot checks on Scrap metal vehicles that are seen entering the Manvers and Trent wards. We will be checking to make sure all vehicles and persons have the following in place-
-Trade Insurance.
-Waste carriers license. (Environment agency)
-Scrap metal dealers license (Local Council)
Should any of the above not be in place, appropriate action will be taken.
The results of this action will be updated on this website when the priority comes up for review at the next Local Area Group meeting on 12/4/2012.
Our Solution
Significant progress has been made in relation to reducing metal theft in the Manvers and Trent wards in addition to Cranmer, Thoroton & Bingham wards. This is partly because the police are working closely with scrap metal dealers to make sure all scrap carriers are being recorded whenever they sell metal to dealers. We think that by doing this non legitimate scrap carriers are finding it much harder to sell potentially stolen metal. The Safer Neighbourhoods Team have also been attending local scrap metal merchants to check their yards and records. Vehicles used to carry metal have also been stopped and insurance documentation / carrying licenses checked. We hope this action will further deter non legitimate carriers.
GOOD NEWS STORY- On 7th February 2012 two local teenagers were arrested on suspicion of having stolen metal. The teenagers sold stolen metal to a local scrap dealer but they were required to leave identification details and the dealer who had been made aware of recent thefts of lead flashing by the SNT subsequently contacted Pc Reason to inform him that some lead flashing had been weighed in. The teenagers have been charged with theft and the case is now in the Nottingham Magistrates Court. The result will be updated on this page in the coming weeks.
- Speeding Motorists Show details
With ongoing works being carried out on the A46 road, some of the surrounding villages are being used as rat runs for commuters at peak traffic times. A small percentage of these commuters are driving their vehicles in excess of the speed limit.
Following the collation of Neighbourhood policing surveys and discussion with the Local Area Group, it has been decided that speeding should be a local policing priority.
Our Response
The Safer Neighbourhoods team headed by PC 147 John Reason will be active at peak times with a Speed monitoring device. Appropriate police action will be taken against drivers who do not abide by the speed limit.
The results of any police action will be updated on this website when the priority comes up for review at the next Local Area Group meeting on 12/04/2012.
Our Solution
Over recent months the Safer Neighbourhood Team have carried out regular speed checks at peak times in priority areas. Several fixed penalty tickets have been issued and numerous motorists have been advised regarding their driving. Although the results of this action are difficult to measure, the Safer Neighbourhood team believe that by taking positive action and being visible at peak times, the message will become clear that we will no tolerate speeding in our community.
