Cotgrave and Wiverton

The Cotgrave and Wiverton Neighbourhood Policing Area is made up from the former beats of the same name.
The Neighbourhood is situated in the heart of the Borough of Rushcliffe which covers South Nottinghamshire. The population of the neighbourhood was recorded in the 2001 Government Census as approximately 11,000 people.  The town of Cotgrave is situated, 6 miles from the City of Nottingham, with a population is approximately 7500 people. Cotgrave is bordered to the north by the A52, to the east is the A46 and to the west by the A606 trunk roads. These roads provide easy access to the Cities of Nottingham and Leicester as well as the towns of Newark and Grantham.  The Wiverton Beat is completely rural. Cropwell Bishop is the largest village on the beat and is situated in the north west of the beat area approximately 4 miles from the former mining town at Cotgrave. The area is enclosed by the A52 road to the north, the A46 road to the east and the A606 to the south. The county border with Leicestershire and the Vale of Belvoir lies to the west.


Neighbourhood Priorities

Through consultation with the members of the public in this neighbourhood we regularly set out a number of priorities to be tackled.

  • Speeding - Cropwell Bishop Show details
    Following the Priority Setting Meeting on 24/01/2012, representatives from this beat cluster have chosen 3 main crimes for the Police to focus upon over the next 3 month period.

    It has been brought to our attention that speeding vehicles have become an issue between the hours of 7:30am – 8:30am and also around 5:00pm rush hour.

    This Priority was amended on 24/01/2012 to also include parking issues on Church Street, Cropwell Bishop.

    The main locations identified for this are:

    Fern Road
    Nottingham Road
    and
    Colston Road


    Our Response
    Over the next 3 months officers will using speed detection devices will attend the areas to monitor vehicles at appropriate times and where appropriate they will be issuing fixed penalty notices. We will advise motorists, caution or prosecute them depending on each individual circumstance. Persistent offenders will be repeatedly targeted.

    Church Street will be regularly visited at differing times of day and on different days, in order to identify whether any offences are being committed, and if so, positive action will be taken in relation to those responsible.

Offending vehicles to be stopped and positive action to be taken against anyone found to be speeding. Registration numbers of offending lorries using local road as a cut through to be supplied to Trading Standards. Police to continue to work alongside Speed & Lorry Watch.

  • Nuisance Motorcycles - Cotgrave Show details
    Following the Priority Setting Meeting on 24/01/2012, representatives from this beat cluster have chosen 3 main crimes for the Police to focus upon over the next 3 month period.

    It has been brought to our attention that nuisance motorcycles are causing issues for local residents, and acrtion has been requested to tackle this issue during this period.

    Our Response
    Regular patrols in a marked police vehicle and officers from NPT to act as a high visibility deterrent at problem times. Offending vehicles to be stopped and positive action to be taken against them. Rowdy/nuisance vehicles to be stopped and section 59 warning notices issued, where appropriate.

    Off Road Police Motorycle Team to be utilised to access those areas not possible with a normal vehicle during this review period, and positive action to be taken against anyone committing any offences.
