Completed Neighbourhood Priorities

  • Speeding   Show details
During the months of August, September and October 2009 the Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) conducted a large number of priority survey forms (PSF’S) amongst the community.

As a result of receiving over 300 responses this information was used at the first priority setting meeting (PSM) in order to give a detailed account of what were the issues of concern within the community. This meeting consisted of members of the community such as neighbourhood watch members, parish councillors, local residents and business people.

As a result of this PSM the priorities were identified and the Rushcliffe South NPT gave assurances as to how, over the next three months, these issues would be addressed.

Speeding has been identified as a priority in the following locations:
    The Ridgeway, Gotham.
    College Street, Sutton Bonnington.
    West Leak Road, East Leake.

The decision was made after consultation with the public whereupon 41 per cent of all people surveyed perceived that speeding was the priority.

The above areas reflect the highest percentage return of all surveyed.

    Our Response
All calls received by the force control room regarding speeding in these locations will receive a priority response by an officer.

The Safer Neighbourhood Team for the area will also conduct regular speed checks in these areas.

Police Updates for November / December 2009 - Operations Bagreef, Buttonwood and Broadside.

    Monday 30 November 2009 - Wednesday 16 December 2009

During the above period the Local Policing Area has benefited from up to 16 extra officers being deployed on a Friday and Saturday evening when local officers supported by other departments have continued to patrol the area in line with the Nottinghamshire Police 20/20 Vision. This has previously been reported and involves targeting both the Risky People and Risky Places within the community. These patrols have been high visibility both on foot and in vehicles and have been conducted in a positive manner.
During this period reported crime and incidents have been very low in number and on a regular basis during the evening times local shops, libraries and licensed premises have been visited to provide reassurance both to users and members of staff and the community as a whole.

As a result of targeting a “Risky” place an offender was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle from Sutton Bonnington and is currently on Police Bail.

Anti-Social Behaviour in the St Marys Crescent area formerly an issue has reduced dramatically and positive feedback has been, and continues to be, received from members of the public.

On Tuesday 8 December 2009 between the hours of 1800 and 2200, PC Redgate and PC Schooling conducted additional foot patrols in the Keyworth area. It was noted that there were no reports of ASB. Leake and Keyworth

High visibility patrols both mobile and on foot have taken place during the above period. These patrols have incorporated the “Risky Places” on the area. On the evenings of both Friday 18 December and Saturday 19 December local pubs and late night outlets were visited by patrolling officers. The aim of these visits is two-fold, both to provide reassurance to retailers and members of the community and also in a bid to prevent any incidents of Anti-Social Behaviour either at, or connected to these premises.

Patrolling officers reported that their interaction with members of the public was met with positive feedback and this is clearly something which would indicate that the 20/20 vision is being seen in a good light.

On Wednesday 26 May 2010 a Neighbourhood Priority Setting Meeting took place to discuss local policing for the next three months. This meeting consisted of members of the community such as neighbourhood watch members, parish councillors, local residents and business people.

A review of the previous three months work in relation to the priorities were given and also the results of 817 surveys completed in Leake and Keyworth areas in the ensuing period.

The three areas specified as the priority locations from these surveys were:-
    Tollerton
    Upper Broughton

    Our Response
Members of the local beat team will tackle the fear of crime in the areas raised in a number of ways most notably by undertaking high visibility patrols in these areas at material times. This will include patrols by the Special Constabulary and additional covert patrols. We will also aim to conduct additional crime prevention and information services within these areas and raise the profile of neighbourhood watch and smartwater. Positive action will be taken and offenders arrested where required. Use will be made of stop and search powers and attention to suspicious vehicles on the roads.
Risky people and Places will be targetted in line with the forces 20/20 Vision both with a view to positive action being taken and also to steer offenders away from criminality where possible.

There has been an increase in the Keyworth South and Tollerton Beat areas concerning Dwelling burglaries during the period, with extra resources being drafted in to the Rushcliffe area, and with a number of very significant arrests made. These arrests and subsequent prosecutions have lead to those numbers being dramatically reduced, with the majority of those arrested either remanded to prison or on a curfew or tag – this has lead to dramatic reductions in burglary offences, when compared to November offences.

Year to date, Dwelling Burglary offences across rushcliffe South show an almost 50% reduction as compared with last year.

Extended patrols are taking place throughout December 2011, under Operation Accelerate, which will bolster the patrols carried out by the Safer Neighbourhood Team, and will target High Crime areas, as well as other issues - these patrols will continue over the Christmas period.

  • Fear of Crime, namely Auto Crime – Keyworth, Tollerton & the Wolds & Leake, Gotham, Stanford & Soar Valley   Show details
On Wednesday 13 July 2011 Police Priority Setting group meeting took place to discuss local policing.
The third priority chosen by the group was fear of crime namely auto crime and after researching the crime pattern analysis and speaking to local residents the below three locations were chosen.

    Keyworth
    Sutton Bonington
    Wysall

Research of crime statistics shows, most incidents occur during working hours and in the early hours of the morning. There is no clear pattern identifying any day of the week.

This priority will be re-assessed on 18 January 2012.

    Our Response
Members of the local beat team will tackle the fear of crime in the areas raised in a number of ways most notably by undertaking high visibility patrols in these areas at material times. This will include patrols by the Special Constabulary and additional covert patrols. We will also aim to conduct additional crime prevention and information services within these areas and raise the profile of Neighbourhood Watch and smart water.
The website will be updated on a fortnightly basis with news on policing activity, arrests of significance and any other relative information.

We also continue to work alongside the Crime Reduction Partnership and Neighbourhood Watch.
